How To Live Life Outloud A-Z “K”

by Vashte on April 2, 2013

Kindness an action lacking in some people these days. Kindness is one of the key ‘fruits of the Spirit’ from the Christian Bible.

” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, KINDNESS, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control” Gal 5: 22

Kindness is looking outside of our present circumstance and into another person’s life with the intention of benefiting or helping that person in some way. Kindness can be a simple act such as getting up to offer your seat for someone else; holding the door open for the people following you; smiling at a stranger. So easy, yet so lacking in 2013. Be a blessing today and focus on showing some kindness to people  in your life- today.

Knight in shining armour

Calling all females! How to BE in 2013…. so many of us are confused. We don’t know how to act. Many have not been shown HOW to be a lady. How do you attract a knight in shining armour- and more importantly- does such a creature even exist?! Indeed he does; but he does not show himself to girls who flaunt themselves in handkerchiefs masquerading as clothing; nor does he show himself to females who give themselves freely. You know what I mean. Girls.. it is worth the wait. So wait. Wait for your knight in shining armour – do not LOOK for him. Get on with living your own life and he will appear. Take time to grow into you with poise and grace.  Your knight will appear for his princess. Be on alert for predators. Predators are a dime a dozen and easy to spot- predators will want to move fast. Knights are happy to take it slow. A knight will respect you for your elegance; your restraint; your class and your grace. A knight will admire you growing into the amazingness that is you and will encourage you on this path. Stay clear of the trap which is the world- you not need to bare all of your flesh to attract a man of integrity, class and honour. Keep your kisses for your true knight. Save your heart from breaking too many times. Stay away from the dark cold world that demands you sell your soul and your self respect to the first male that shows you attention and you will reap the benefits for finding true love in a world teaching confusion to the masses.

Kombucha and Kefir

…what are these?! Both Kombucha and Kefir are fermented foods. Fermented foods are- very basically- foods that can help balance the gut with good bacteria.  Why do we need foods such as these?

Our world is fast paced. We live in a microwave society where we expect everything yesterday. Our foods are often over processed, pre-packaged, pre-made, and dare I say it-microwaved. ‘Food’ such as this is dead. It provides the body very little to zero nutritional benefit. By introducing fermented foods into our diets, we can help start to balance the bacteria in the gut. This is very important to our overall health-more so than most people realise. Kombucha and kefir are just two of many options that can aid in the growth of pre and pro-biotics needed in the gut via nutrition. Pop into your local quality health food store for more information on probiotics and fermented foods; or message me for guidance. I have recently experienced the result of stripping my gut completely from all good and bad bacteria. It is an awful experience. There are specific steps needed to repopulate the gut with good bacteria in order for the body to have the ability to actually can digest and absorb nutrients in the food we eat, and keep disease at bay. You need a good naturopath to oversee you in this process. Without a healthy gut you have little control over your health and open yourself to dis-ease. Get it right. NOW.

Kale and Sea Kelp

Greens, greens and more greens! Alkalise that body! Fall in love with your greens! Find a great local farmers markets; organic preferably, and visit every week. Green veges are you new best friend! They help you flush the body of toxins which in turn reduces fat resulting in size/fat loss! As 70% of our population is overweight/obese- this is a GOOD THING!

Kale– some of the many benefits of kale include: ” A super food for life – one cup of kale contains vitamins K, A, C, B6, E plus minerals such as, manganese, copper, calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium.”

Sea Kelp in small doses: “Sea kelp is a natural source of vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D and E, as well as minerals including zinc, iodine, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper and calcium. In fact it contains the highest natural concentration of calcium of any food – 10 times more than milk.”

My meals are largely comprised of protein, good fats and loads of green leafy vegetables. Why? Because meals like this can turn my body into a lean, mean, fat-burning machine. Polenta vegetarian frittataPerhaps they will do the same for you too! I have no idea as to how many kilojoules they comprise of.

Move more to burn kilojoules but DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME COUNTING THEM! What is the point of counting kilojoules when our bodies use foods in very different ways? Counting kilojoules is a waste of my time and results only in worry and paranoia if I eat clean, whole, organic fresh food!

Eat clean fresh, wholefoods; mostly protein, good fats and plenty of fresh organic leafy green veges; move that body for 30mins to an hour a day (walking is great!); drink plenty of filtered alkaline water if you can; get 8 hours sleep ideally; and reduce your STRESS levels over and above all else.

Health is not rocket science so we ought to stop treating it like it is. Keep it simple. it is time to wake up to ourselves and admit that we know most food arriving in a box; most pre-made food; any fast food… is not food at all. Lets get logical and go back to basics in this life of ours. In order to live a long, healthy, prosperous, energetic life without the BRAIN FOG every single day of our lives.. it is simple:

Choose kindness to reduce stress!; choose to wait for your knight in shining armour to reduce heart ache and…stress;  choose kombucha, kefir and fermented foods to give your body pre and probiotics to help digest your foods; choose kale and kelp and green leafy veges, choose whole foods, choose organic foods to help get alkaline and be filled with energy. Choose to move more and burn kilojoules without the need to count them!

Choose life. One life, live it well!!!

And here..the fairy tale was destroyed.... thank you 21st Century!

And that, my friends, is where the fairy tale ended. You see, by chasing a man you have reversed the roles of masculinity and femininity. If that man allows himself to be caught, then if you ask me, and it Is my blog so I am going to assume you are asking me… then I’d say that man can quite easily be caught by another woman game enough to pursue him, at ANY stage in the game of life…AND in this day and age, there are plenty of vipers out there ready to pounce. I’ve seen it with my own eyes on numerous occasions.
But who am I to write about men and women and relationships? I am single!!! I will remain single too if I am expected to chase a man to get him!! The man I end up with, will have to pursue me , woo me and catch me. I figure if a man can not do that then he does not want me enough. Its really not rocket science. Chasing men ruins potentially good men!! And woman!!

A Gentleman...

I am old school and staying old school!! I look for the man to BE the man, and I will BE the woman. I might wear pants for clothing but let the man BE the masculine one!! Just the way he was designed!! In my world.. men are not allowed to wear skinny jeans!! NO WAY!! My man should not FIT skinny jeans!!! I’M the only one to wear skinny jeans!!! If I have to compete with which one of us looks the prettiest…um something has gone horribly wrong!! And as I look out into the world.. I see it really has.

Driving home the other night I noticed behind me a convertible. Two men sitting in this car. One, in the passenger seat, with a funky hat on, looking a little gruff with stubbly facial hair, the other driving..he’s preening and fixating on himself in the rear vision mirror, playing with his waxed hair flipped to one side and bits sticking up at the top… making sure the wind hasn’t ruined the style, checking out his face..excuse me while I vomit. I think his friend said something to him about playing with his hair… seriously these guys are turning into girls. It is HORRID!!

Girls, if you chase your man down, do not think you have him pinned. No way Jose! You have just undermined his masculinity no end, and even if he thinks that behaviour is hot or cute right now, there will come a time when he needs to assert himself again as a man. It is in their blood. How they do it..Lord only knows. Breakups, abuse, verbal, emotional, or physical it’s all nasty; affairs; diving into work.. the main thing to think about is this..if he was caught once, he can be caught again by something newer, brighter, more vibrant. You are only sewing bad seed by playing the game of the world at the moment!

If he is caught once, he can be caught again...

Me? I’m staying single until someone shows their worth, by making ME feel like I’m the most beautiful girl in the world, and they would move heaven and earth just to spend the rest of their life with me. .or just have a coffee. 😉 Why? Because I’m worth it..and so are you.
Don’t sell out to the need of second best, third best or bottom of the pile. Wait. Its worth it. Well, it will be AND if no one comes to get me..then that is fine! I can live my life single! I would prefer that ANY DAY to finding a man who doesn’t have a spinal cord. I need a man who knows his worth, is not afraid to ask me out and isn’t afraid of the thought of a ‘no’. If a man is afraid of being rejected when asking a girl out, then how on earth is he going to face the world!!! Since when did no become such a horrifying experience? AND if he’s worth a grain of salt.. he won’t even think I or you (girls) would say no!!! A man knows how to have a conversation with a woman..he knows how to make her laugh and he knows how to make her feel like a million dollars.

There is such a thing as Prince Charming :)

Boys do not. Some ‘men’ are still boys. Why give them the time of day? Those men are the ones that can be caught. No thanks!
I’m waiting for a real man..and if it means spending the rest of my life living in my castle in the sky, I’m OK with that! At least I wouldn’t be terribly disappointed every time I look at the man I went to ‘catch’ -because thats what I would be. Where is the love in that? There is none!

To me, Cinderella and all those fairy tales had it right. Let the men BE men and girls ENJOY being a woman!! It is a very powerful and beautiful thing!! Let the man love on you, chase you and catch you, and then you have the power and strength to support and love that man for his strength and power. Its cyclical;.. why on earth are we fighting the system that works!! Whoever said being female was weak, was terribly wrong. (Must have been a man and then a whole heap of women bought in on the scam). There is a whole lot of strength in being feminine. Men love it in women too. Funny that.

So very feminine. SO very strong in her femininity.

I refuse to chase a man or fall victim to the scam of the 21st Century I hope you do too.

Written by a real woman, for the real men and women out there. I know there are some remaining like me out there!!! Don’t get sucked into the world system designed to keep us all alone. We are designed to complement each other, not fight each other. That’s a lonely world out there for those people.

Here’s to old school romance. Love and honour. Lets bring it back. Right now. Girls stop chasing!! Men START chasing!! It is so much more fun in the long run!! Why..it breeds a whole love of LOVE that this world is severely lacking.

Bless you and love you. And remember these are my personal thoughts and beliefs, you may not agree, but perhaps ponder for a moment or two and think on it with your heart, not your head would you? And can you? Switch your head off and let your heart lead..just for a moment??

Love and honour

Green Tea vs Coffee

by Vashte on May 27, 2012

Coffee vs Green Tea

An interesting phenomenon happened over the past 14 months or so. I started drinking coffee. This was new to me and something I had never believed I would do. I thought the taste was absolutely horrendous. Don’t get me wrong; having managed a number of fine restaurants in my life, I knew the importance and significance of a ‘good’ coffee. The creme, the aroma, the grain of the bean, the pour, the milk, the presentation… the meaning!! To a coffee drinker, what a person orders can tell you quite a bit about the person drinking that coffee…so look out!! You are in the coffee box!!! I have always loved the atmosphere and ambience of a good cafe, loved the aroma of a good coffee, but couldn’t drink the stuff! When friends said “hey Vashte, lets go for a coffee!” Id would jump at the concept and then think it ironic that I sit there drinking herbal tea..it just wasn’t quite the same!! That is of course, until I found coffee in a time of crisis.. I turned to coffee as my vice for the buzz it gave me initially AND because the person I cared about dearly vehemently didn’t like me to drink it. As he was gone, I could do what I liked right?! (That’s the silly little child rebel in me- we all have that at times). Thus the coffee habit began.

Why drink coffee??

No longer could I speak and advise people not to drink coffee!! I was doing it myself! To give myself a break I guess I could have turned to other things… but that’s not where this story is going. I chose coffee.

Coffee: One of the most acidic substances one can put into the body, along with sugar. The skin on my face would break out in horrid spots that were painful after drinking coffee. They were awfully painful things but I did not stop. I just covered them up with good makeup. I reasoned (as we do when we know we are wrong) that I am allowed a vice and if other people drink it every day then so can I.

Love hate relationship....

The buzz from coffee soon waned and I was drinking two coffees a day bought from the best barista in town. I had researched this by actually sampling most coffees in town by this stage. I was a coffee snob! She and I are great friends now, although I am not helping her income as I have finally STOPPED!!!

I speak on nutrition virtually on a daily basis. Coffee is just not good for us. It is an industry making a lot of money out of our addictions and we think its cool. It is SO NOT. It stresses the adrenal glands no end and if you are like approximately 75% of the adult population of Australia, then you are in need of losing some fat. Coffee can inhibit this for many reasons, one of them being -stressed adrenals. What it did to me was this- stress my already stressed out adrenal glands, resulting in cystic spots on my face. You would never know as I was good at covering them most of the time, but I would do anything and everything to avoid being seen without makeup or something covering my face. It really affected my confidence.
If you drink coffee with ANY type of milk, you are adding even more sugar, lactic acid, unnecessary calories to your system. For what reason? Coffee ages you from the inside out, and yet you drink it to give you energy? Stop you eating food?? Because you can’t go without it?? You actually CAN. If you WANT.

Two weeks ago I stopped drinking coffee altogether. I had a headache for two days as the caffeine left my body. That tripped me out somewhat as I really did not think I had ‘the habit’. Funny how these things creep up on you. I have made major changes in my eating and exercise programme as well to complement this change. My mind is clearer than it has been in a long time, I am saving $40 per week!! (=$2,080.00. For those of you who think that’s nothing, that to me is a round the world flight, or $2,000.00 off debt. Now does it sound like a good idea?) AND…something VERY important to me is this: my skin is finally clear!

Bad skin is often a product of what is going on inside your body. I had been examined by highly qualified facial technicians who all said the actual skin itself on my face was lovely, whatever was causing this was coming from the inside. It was stress related. Stressed adrenal glands.
Coffee was not the sole cause of this, but by eliminating it from my diet, changing my mindset and attitude, freeing my time for relaxation, and changing my diet and exercise, I experienced almost immediate results and allowed my insides to chill out. NO pre work out supplements allowed. I had started on those too as my energy levels were dropping and I wanted to stay on that high. What resulted? You guessed it – more skin issues.

Pure Green Tea

I swapped coffee for green tea. When I was considering this option I was almost gagging on the concept. I did not like green tea. I had tried time and time again to drink the stuff and to me it tasted bitter and left an aftertaste in my mouth.. hmm where have I heard that before?? Did not coffee do the same thing initially?! ABSOLUTELY!! SO if I could learn to love coffee then I could learn to love green tea. Its all in the attitude. As with everything in life.

Not all green teas are the same. The best quality are the loose leaf green teas straight from the source, Japan. However, I am not quite a connoisseur in this department YET..and if there is one thing I have learnt in life about myself, I don’t know about you.. but with me.. I like to make a significant change but ..not one that’s going to be SO drastic that I hate it and rebound off it.
First step is a baby step: drinking green tea from the local supermarket in bags. Organic and not too strong. Just like weight loss and fat loss: if I give an obese person a nutrition plan tailored for a person one week out of a body sculpting competition I am setting them up for an epic failure. Blood sugars will go nuts, they will STARVE, and then BINGE. Same goes for making a change like this.
As a result I am LOVING my green tea and drink it by the bucket load! The goodness found in green tea is astounding, packed with antioxidants to combat aging, illness and nasty free radicals, it also can help reduce appetite and fat cells. Man, I should have learnt about green tea a long time before this!! (I did  but chose to believe I was all good without it..) I have dropped from 18% body fat to 15%, as well as increased in muscle.  No it is not ONLY because of drinking green tea, but I can tell you this: the green tea sure helps in all areas!!

I’m loving it now, and I am loving the results I am getting. I am sold. Why don’t you you take the leap into the green tea world too!!!

Green Tea from the supermarket! Easy!!

Letter from God to All Women

by Vashte on January 10, 2012

If you ever look at yourself & feel that you don’t measure up, read this & your outlook will change before you finish reading it!

This is good to keep, not just to read from time to time, but to also keep stored in your heart!

Enjoy, & remember who you are!!!

Letter From God to All Women

When I created the heavens and the earth, I  spoke them into being.
When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils.
But you, I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your nostrils are too delicate.
I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I could patiently and perfectly fashion you.
Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere with the creativity.
From one bone, I fashioned you.
I chose the bone that protects man’s life.
I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs and supports him, as you are meant to do.
Around this one bone, I shaped you …….
I modelled you.
I created you perfectly and beautifully.
Your characteristics are as the rib, strong yet delicate and fragile.
You provide protection for the most delicate organ in man, his heart.
His heart is the centre of his being; his lungs hold the breath of life.
The rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart.
You are my perfect angel….You are my beautiful little girl.
You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence, and my eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart.
Your eyes……don’t change them.
Your lips — how lovely when they part in prayer.
Your nose, so perfect in form.
Your hands so gentle to touch.
I’ve caressed your face in your deepest sleep.
I’ve held your heart close to mine.
Of all that lives and breathes, you are most like me.
Adam walked with me in the cool of the day,
yet he was lonely.
He could not see me or touch me. He could only feel me.
So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience with me, I fashioned in you;
my holiness, my strength, my purity,
my love, my protection and support.
You are special because you are an extension of Me.
Man represents my image, woman my emotions.
Together, you represent the totality of God.

You are loved, respected and fragile.

Keep shining, Keep running,

Keep hoping, Keep praying.

Keep being exactly what you are already

in God’s eyes ….  COMPLETE!!!”
