What is A Wholefood Workshop?

by Vashte on October 20, 2014

-Wholefood Workshops – glutenfree – weightloss – fatloss- vegan- raw- flexitarian – all natural

Saturday the 18th October.- Living Life OutLoud held a Weightloss and Healthy Snacks Wholefood Workshop in Budds Beach.

A small and very eager group gathered to learn and feast on foods made with new ingredients.. a taste bonanza..an experience to behold!

www.vashte.com Wholefood Workshops with Vashte

“Great class. Showed me a better way to eat and educated me on the dangers of today’s foods.” A Marchitto October 2014

My workshops are designed to give you more. Not take options away. When we take options away- the brain translates that to a ‘diet’ and immediately starts to crave the very things you a trying to avoid. Instead of ‘avoiding ‘ or ‘missing out’ on anything in life, I help train your mind to replace ingredients as opposed to ‘not being allowed’ things. I train you to live with an abundant mentality as opposed to a ‘poverty or lack’ mentality.

Wholefoood is delicious. It is made from foods that are high in nutrients, and often low in calories. The food we get from premade, pre-packaged, fast food is high in calories and low in nutrients– which  explains why people can eat an entire pizza and still be hungry. If the food we eat is nutrient dead, the body and the brain will make you continue to seek out nutrientsno matter how many calories you consumeWholefoods provide both. Wholefoods provide nutrient dense food- so the body feels full, and IS full, and the brain is therefore also fed. It is very hard to overeat when you eat wholefood. The body and brain just will not allow it.

In my workshops I explain how to ‘lose weight’ without dieting, and without pills, potions and lotions. I give you the tools to empower you. As you learn new ingredients one at a time, and how they might benefit you- how to use them and what to replace dead foods with.. the mystery is lifted from healthy eating, and what ‘healthy eating ‘actually is!!!

Empowering people for better choices in life. If it starts with food for you.. then it starts with food for you! Let it start somewhere! One step at a time!

“Very impressed with the alternative options for foods and the flavours were so intense and rich. I will certainly be introducing these into my life. ” F Cook October 2014

“Great! Freely asking questions! Vashte is full of knowledge and explains in layman’s terms. I look forward to attending another workshop. It was a relaxed and friendly environment” P Cote October 2014

If you think you can’t eat sweet treats when you live a healthy lifestyle, think again. It is all about the ingredients- the quality and the quantity. I use Purely Natural products in my sweet foods especially. They are certified Living Food- raw, organic and fairtrade. Their products make me want to melt every time I open the lids. Ingredients either make or break- your meal, and you in the end. Why fill your amazing body with food (fuel) that is not fit for human consumption.. as many ingredients found on the shelves of supermarkets are? I choose to fill my body with the best products I can find, and happily share them with you. Take what  you like away- but just implement one thing, just one thing… that is how you start to make a change in life.

These workshops are designed for beginners. They are designed to welcome you, give you confidence, and get you started in learning about the body, the brain and how food can affect so much in life. Ideas and cencepts I have been working with for many years. Ideas you can take on board, research for yourself and make your own decisions about. I want to encourage you to take back the ownership of your own lives. Take back the mind control. Ask questions. Ask where our food is coming from. Get to know local farmers. Get to know local wholefood cafes, and markets. Vote with your dollar and force the health revolution into full swing!

“Loved the Wholefood experience – thankyou Vashte and Craig for sharing your kitchen and your amazing knowledge!” C Doherty October 2014

“Amazing. Simple inspiration to go home and make changes to my eating habits. It was full of information and tips with questions answered. Vashte, you rock” R Doherty October 2014

www.vashte.com Wholefood Workshops wth Vashte

I invite you to come to one of my remaining workshops in Nov or Dec. There are three dates left.

Nov 1 – Weightloss and Healthy Snacks

Nov 15 – A Wholefood Healthy CHRISTMAS

Dec 6 – Healthy Sweet treats

I have a few spaces left in each- please email me here: info@vashte.com for details on how to get a ticket. The workshops are very small to keep it personal, hands on and welcoming. There is no SuperFood Snobbery in my Workshops. There are no seminar style classes. All questions are welcomed. You sit and dine once you make your foods, and you take the recipes with you.

The idea for Wholefood Workshops was borne from people asking me about the food I eat, how to eat, how to lose weight. How to be healthy. The workshops  have proven a success, and fun for all who have jumped on board! Including me! They are by no means extensive, but they are an introduction for you to be able to take away one or two concepts and implement them into your lifestyles. THAT is how TRUE change takes place. Baby step, by baby step. THAT is how a baby learns to walk.. why is health any different. I grow each day, and I hope you do to.

Choose to empower yourself with knowledge, and then apply it.

How about instead of waiting to get sick and then relying for the rest of your life on pharmaceutical drugs that possibly, maybe, could (by a very very very long shot fix the issue you present with- or bandaid it) but also cause as a knock-on effect, a series of other issues, often life-threatening… instead of falling into that trap…. choose to remove yourself from the matrix and live in PREVENTATIVE HEALTH. NEVER get sick because your immune system is so kickass strong, your mind is alert and awake… bugs tremble when you approach! Live a Life OutLoud and Life a Life Like Mine! Bugs die from the shadow I cast. I am so strong in Mind, Body and Spirit.

If you want a piece of the action too… you best high tail it in to one of the last remaining workshops I have available for this year. Just get your butt in and become enlightened!! And have some fun! !!

If you want to join me in the last workshops for the year- email me to secure your spaces. November is almost full- for both workshops – so if you are thinking about it… I recommend doing something about it. Jump on board!! You wont be disappointed. !!!

Why Chia Seeds?

by Vashte on September 29, 2014

superfood- weightloss – fatloss – vegan- detox- raw- healthyeating – all natural- glutenfree

chia seeds www.vashte.com

Chia seeds have received a rise in popularity again since  hhmmm about 2008-2009- if you ask me.  That was when the health food stores started seeing more brands coming on board, more marketing and then, as a result of that marketing.. more demand. Stands to reason- supply and demand. Today you can buy chia seeds from the supermarkets. You find them in the health food sectiona section that is growing faster than many other sections in the supermarkets as more companies understand that you and I are eduating ourselves and no longer demanding spoon feeding.

Chia is almost a household ingredient… almost, but not quite… but …why are we demanding it?

Well.. its one of those…‘ superfoods ‘.. right? So it ‘must’ be good for us- so we want it. … That is pretty much how it goes isn’t it?  “I heard it was good for me so I want it.”  “My friend puts some in her smoothies and she feels great. I want to feel great too. ” ‘” Someone said it helps with weightloss -I will have that too. ” You know the story.

I thought I would pop down a few facts I found for you to peruse over as to why I use chia in my foods, and why I have found it good for me. Yes, I do think chia is a great ingredient in the pantry. Pretty much any day you come to my house you will likely find some either in my pantry unopened or in the fridge- (that is where I keep most opened product due to humidity and weevils..such is life in QLD) .. lol. or you will find foods that that I have made and have frozen ready for eating – with chia in! Yes chia is a friend to my body and mind! Love it!

The good stuff:

100g chia provides:

  • 9x more omega 3 than salmon and zero mercury! Bonus!!
  • 2 x more protein than 3 eggs
  • 2 x more fibre than oats and ZERO GLUTEN
  • 5 x more calcium than a glass of milk and ZERO PUS!!!

So as a celiac- of which I am, and many people are although most do not know it – it is highly beneficial for me to choose not to eat gluten/grains (due to the gross genetic modification and gluten content) as well as choose not to consume most dairy products esepcailly milky, processed, pasturised pus filled milk and cream. Chia can give me what you think I am missing out on!! Yay!

100gm of chia is a truck load though- don’t go out and stick 100 gm of chia in a glass and drink it- you will explode! Chia, when coming into contact with fluid produces a gel like substance around the chia seed. It is pretty cool to watch. Place a teaspoon  in your glass bottle of water, some lemon, shake it up and leave it for an hour- you will see how the chia ‘expands’ and results in a gel like substance – a bit like little frogs eggs lol. Drink throughout the day! I do, it keeps me full between meals as well as keeping my mind alert, and my energy high providing me with nutrients without ‘eating’ a meal. Perfect.

Chia is high in :

  • fibre
  • calcium,
  • complete protein
  • amino acids
  • slowly processed carbohydrates
  • and loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and omega-3

Chia seeds added to meals and drinks can:

Vashtes Green Smoothie www.vashte.com

  • boost energy
  • improve brain, heart and skin health
  • thicken soups and casseroles instead of flour based thickeners- or thickeners filled with fillers.

Chia keeps me healthy from the inside out. And that is the only way to achieve true health- from the inside out.

Chia are called a ‘superfood ‘ yes- but don’t fall into the ‘superfood’ trap. Keep it real. Superfood is now a term that is coined by those clever marketers to sell you more of what you don’t really need. In this case- ‘superfood’ is a good term to use. The benefits from chia are outstanding. The Mayan’s are believed to have, in times of scarce solid food, only consumed chia and water and been able to run for days.  So great for running!! lol!!

Chia are said to be a complete superfood as they are supposed to be the richest plant based source of omega 3, protein, dietary fibre and antioxidants.  And because of their high fibre content they keep the body feeling fuller for longer which can result in eating less as the body feels full. When the body is filled with nutrients dense food(of which chia is)  the brain switches of the ‘hunger trigger’- so the mind moves away from being all consumed with food too. Make sense?  This can help  with weightloss/ fatloss – and sanity!

So all this said and told, I think chia is fabulous for the yummy and delicious foods I can make with it as well!!

Chia can be used as a breakfast.. in homemade cereals (grain free and nut free if  you, like me prefer grain free, sugarfree and often nut free foods…)

www.vashte.com chia breakfast

Chia pots- which can be eaten any time of the day as well as a desert.. certainly beats all those horrible refined sugar options out there!! As a breakfast pot this will keep you going till lunch easy!!! Watch the 10am sugar crash disappear without you even thinking about it! Goodbye ‘diets’.

If you want to detox your body as so many people seem determined to do these days .. instead of buying some packaged premade juice drinks delivered to your door …containing preservatives to keep them looking pretty for longer. Or instead of buying into the latest and great scam I have heard of in a long time.. marketed as a detox system– selling you low quality whey protein drinks overflowing with poor quality ingredients/fillers and …SUGAR….

Why don’t you just pop on down to the supermarket or health shop and get yourself some fabulous gelatinous plant foods like… hmmm oh I know… chia!!! or aloe vera or and seaweed!!!. All natural just the way God made them.

chia in water www.vashte.com

These foods form the gel- the gelatinous fibre- in fluid. This gelatinous fibre moves through the intestinal tract absorbing and binding waste. They particularly absorb bile salts produced by the liver (oooh a liver detox type thing….); taking with them fat soluble toxins (sounds good yes?) that the body needs and wants to get rid of. Without foods such as chia, aloevera and or seaweed – all foods that produce this fabulous gel- the body finds it very hard to rid itself of the toxins we consume or absorb. When the body can’t pass toxins, the toxins get dumped…into fat cells… and the more crap we eat, the poorer our lifestyle choices.. the more we produce fat cells as we need a place to dump toxins.. which eventually turn into more  insidious things if left uncleared…. The small intestine is where it all starts, when foods/toxins are left there- they are just reabsorbed back into the body.- This is bad.

We need to release all toxins so they do not pollute the body.

Drinking pre made juice, proteins, whey or non dairy, as ‘detoxes’ just does not compute. Don’t waste that $600 odd a month on some MLM scheme no matter how amazing they say they feel. Just wait till they start back on real food again!! Or check back on them in 5- 10 years time- and see who is the healthy one..or who is still actually around….

eat wholefood for weightloss. www.vashte.com

Eat loads of green veges.. bought from your local farmers markets, or permaculture farm.. they are everywhere- you just need to have a squiz for them. Now they are just as reasonable in price as the supermarkets if you are buying in season. Stop demanding all foods all year round. It just isn’t natural! We are seasonal for a reason! So enjoy the foods that are available in season and watch your body detox naturally, and easily!

I hope this gives you an idea of why I dig chia seeds! You are welcome to comment or ask me questions!

My info comes from a documentary I sell – if you want it- let me know and I will get you a copy Expand your knowledge and resources- empower yourself. Take back the control. ONE LIFE LIVE IT WELL!!!!

Here’s to your health and a better world for you, and your children’s children.

Want to come to a Wholefood Workshop in Oct/Nov?

by Vashte on September 22, 2014

wholefood – workshop – vegan – raw- paleo – glutenfree – all natural – realfoodcooking

Wholefood Workshop With Vashte

On the 13th Sept 2014 – just passed- Living Life OutLoud held our first wholefood workshop– and it was fun! We made everything from snacks to wheatfree pizzas– to tasty treats and delights….

The point of these workshops is to share how I eat with anyone who is interested in learning basic skills, using beautiful organic ingredients where possible, using quality ingredients, and making wholefood easy- suitable to every single person no matter what the budget is, nor time constraints.

I want to share the power in knowing what to eat, when to eat it and how to eat- for a long term, healthy lifestyle– suitable to all dietary choices.

My philosophy in food is pretty simple: Keep it simple; Keep it delicious! If I don’t make delicious food, then I’m not interested. Who wants to eat bland, boring food? Little wonder we reach for the nearest chocolate cake when we are out if food at home is tasteless.

Wholefood Workshops with Vashte

Wholefood ought to be bursting with flavour! Why?! Because wholefood uses whole ingredients. Ingredients that are often organic; or spray free where possible; sourced locally so that means not frozen and available all year round producing a meh flavour. Wholefood is easy. Wholefood will fill you up for longer because it is nutrient dense- not necessary calorie dense. = This is where a lot of our current problem stems from:

Calorie dense DEAD food but is nutrient empty -think anything pre-packaged, ready made, microwavable, fast food.

We need nutrient dense food, with fewer DEAD calories.

Using the processed and refined ingredients so readily available from supermarkets gives us exactly the opposite to what the human body craves.

Refined flour, sugar, fat free… sugar free, synthesised food, anything man has messed with …… very few of these ingredients are actually fit for human consumption. They offer little to zero nutrient benefit to the human body, but still come with empty caloires and then we expect out bodies to digest these chemically laden ‘foods’ – we wonder why there is a continual increase in terminal illness, children being born with terminal illnesses, obesity and a constant existence of illness- always running to the ‘doctor’ for more pharmaceutical drugs- which may ‘bandaid’ the problem presenting… but how many of you actually read those side effects? Which are very real. And very present.

Be honest….

Wholefoods can significantly increase your overall wellnessthe way you think – the words you speak- the energy you have each day – your attitude towards your life and even give you the strength to overcome the issues you face.

Wholefood Workshops with vashte.com

Really?  Yes really. These are my very strong beliefs and I am sure any person living a ‘wholefood’ life will testify how changing one thing– can be the instigator to changing so many other areas in life that you may not even consider to be inter-related. …

Wholefoods are simple. Wholefoods are easy. Wholefoods do not subscribe to one way of eating– but a wholefood lifestyle can give you the power to understand how ingredients affect your unique body and mind–  and what works for you. We are all different. When we come to accept that and embrace this fact, we are more able to make empowered decisions relating to how we choose to live our lives. Does that inherently make sense to you?

I am celiac- which means my body does not like gluten nor dairy. In fact the cleaner I get with my eating, then more this becomes very apparent. Some people have a belief system that says “it was easier when you just at anything’ – my question I ask those people who state this is this:

Would you rather have your body and your mind running below par as it exists in a constant state of inflammation from you ‘eating anything ‘ resulting in you getting the cold, the flu, running on empty, low energy, tired, bloated unable to lose those 5 kilos.. or 25 kilos, get grey hair early, dry skin, gas after eating, constipation, diarrhoea, pains in the stomach, headaches…

The list goes on, but this list is a list too many people live with each and every day! And think it is just the way life is for them.

pfff.

It really is not normal. All signs of discomfort are the body trying to communicate with the brain informing us there is something wrong. It is not OK to ‘live’ with these symptoms and pop a pill to dull that warning. NO!! And if that means changing up a few ingredients in your everyday diet is THAT  a big deal? Especially when many if not all these symptoms disappear.. sometimes even  over night… wouldn’t you think that it is worth giving it a try? Wouldn’t it be worth taking out inferior ingredients from your diet? Is it really that hard?

I can go on and on about the benefits of eating well. Eating well does not mean being sucked into fabulous marketing strategies out there every day.

  • Eating well does not mean thinking that shakes will lose the fat, or detox your body and mind.
  • Eating well does not mean dieting, nor does it mean eating 6 meals a day.
  • Eating well does not mean ‘vegan; ‘raw’; ‘paleo’; ‘protein shakes’….or any other label.

Eating well means understanding your own body and working with what you have. That simple.

www.vashte.com coconut power balls

Noone can tell you how to eat, nor what to eat. We are all different. Theories change constantly. What was ‘right’ last week is ‘wrong’ this week. What was right last year is changed this year. Consider the war between the doctors, the dieticians, the nutritionists, the naturopaths, the raw food community, the paleo community… on and on and on…. bah blah blah….

Why this war? Who instigated this? Who drives it still? Does it really matter if you are willing to examine a few ideas and come to your own conclusion- every person and theory that has been ‘proven’ right – has also been ‘proven wrong’ – it pays to remember this fact.

I am about to release wholefood  workshop  dates for October and November. You are invited to to come hang out in the kitchen with me and play with wholefoods. You are welcome to register your interest- by subscribing to this website (top right corner). The dates are released to those who subscribe before they are shared with the general public. I figure people who are genuinely interested in my philosophy and way of life will subscribe – so that is my way to thank you for hanging out with me here.

September was a blast and I know I opened eyes as to how to create beautiful foods with little time to spare, and money. I am all about keeping it real with no motive other than a genuine passion to empower people- mind, body and soul. It frustrates me to see so many sick people out there- when there is no need– and the answer is and always has been here, under your noses. But sometimes you just need a helping hand to show you the way- and then you fly like the eagles you were created to be – maybe I can be your helping hand..leading you into a fabulous healthy, and delicious Summer and Christmas… ?

Seasons

by Vashte on May 28, 2014

Seasons www.vashte.com

As I look at my life, I realise it is made up from a  medley of different seasons. Each day leading further into, or as a continuum, or leading out of that season and prepping for the next season I allow, or choose to walk into.

The life I live is my responsibility directly. Noone else’s. Yes, things happen ‘to’ me and around me that are seemingly out of my control. Or are they? When I reflect back and look with open eyes and heart, and with hardcore pure honesty.. nothing I have lived through has been completely out of my control.

I may not have been able to ‘stop’ things happening, especially as a child; but I could definitely have done a little more, or a lot more about them to make my feelings known. I still cannot ‘stop’ some things happening as an adult- but I do have more ability to understand; take myself out of any given situation; choose to ‘put myself in other people’s shoes’; consider different meanings for events that mean one thing to me; ask questions; speak up; action change.

Seasons in life are here to help mold us into the brilliant human beings we are designed to be. And as logical and predictable as the seasons in one year are; so too are our very own seasons. Completely logical.

The seeds we plant today will be the harvests for our tomorrows. I cant help but relate the parable of the sower, spoken by Jesus (Luke 8: 4-15), to my life today – and yours potentially?

If my seed (my ideas) are thrown away or not even spoken of, my life remains as it is. Life happens ‘to’ me. I am the ‘victim’, and ‘life’ is in control. If my dreams are never even made into goals, they will never become my reality. Life goes on without me, and I will forever be looking on as a spectator- wishing on a star. I fall to the wayside and the world tramples me down.  Survival of the fittest.

When we have courage to go after even a small dream, then we overcome self doubt, and dis-belief. No matter what has happened in life, no matter what people have said- we have the power to change all those things. Don’t live life as a spectator. Don’t be pushed into the gutter. Don’t be trampled down. All it takes is one small step to start changing that.

barren www.vashte.com

If I plant on stony ground- what do I expect to grow from that? How do I expect to produce a harvest from that?

I look around my world and I question – is my ground stony? How have I been treating myself and others? Am I loving, considerate, passionate, truthful? If I am walking in truth, then the people around me will reflect that. As will my workplace. As will my home space. Or am I living ‘in ‘ the world- ‘expecting‘ the world to ‘give me what I deserve’? Do I have an attitude of resentment, anger and hatred? Am I hardening my heart, and therefore hardening the soil (world) around me to reflect the negativity I believe to be true? Do I have a chip on my shoulder? Are all people annoying and wrong all the time? Is my patience thin with life? Is my attitude: I work hard… Nothing was ever given to me… Nothing good will ever come.. I ‘deserve’better….? Stony ground.

A world on stony ground is a cold, hard place. Lonely. It is a heart thing. We don’t need to open the heart over night.. Jesus said to ‘guard your heart above all else’, but He did not say to make it hard.  We can start by cracking a smile at work.. to the cafe workers.. to your husband or wife. What eventuates from that one small gesture, can instigate a softening of the heart… softening of the soil in which we live.

stony ground www.vashte.com

If I plant seeds with weeds- what can we expect from this? Is a productive season likely to eventuate with weeds all around my precious seeds?

I look around my world and ask myself- am I living with weeds? Am I living in truth, peace and in that space of incredible lightness in being? Am I empowered? Am I empowering to others? Are they listening? Who are the people I connect with? Are they honest, determined and caring? Or is my environment toxic? Are there chemicals all around, and yet the weeds morph into superweeds- condescending, haughty, self righteous? Are there road blocks with every corner I turn? Do I stumble and fall, finding noone to offer a hand up? Do I offer a hand to those who tumble and fall? Are my conversations all about ‘me, me, me’; do I talk behind people’s backs; do I harbour jealousy, resentment, self pity. Do my connections? Are my ideas considered, or are they squashed before the idea is even fully disclosed? Weeds- kill healthy seedlings.

Weed out the thorns in life. Weed the thorns from your own self. Always start with self first, before we look to others. Chances are we harbour the issue ourselves,  which is why we attract such lifestyles to us. Clean from the inside out first and watch the weeds just fall away naturally as we replace those spaces with encouraging, forward thinking, empowered life skills and people.

When we plant our seeds on fertile soil- of course they grow and flourish. So long as they are nourished.

I ask myself is my life fertile? Do I see blessing in all things? Am I experiencing the beauty that is life? Do I appreciate every day, the opportunities, the people, the lifestyle. Am I making the most of my given days and circumstances. Is there anything I can do to be more of a blessing to myself, and to others? Am I regularly checking my heart space- clearing it from stones, weeds and thorns as they crop up?

Good crop www.vashte.com

  • These are all things I constantly remind myself to consider and ask in life.
  • These are all things I need reminding of too.

The seasons that have seemed the hardest, difficult and painful  have been the seasons where I fought. Those were the seasons I wanted to be somewhere or someone else, where I chose to hold on to things that have passed away. In doing so, I chose not to ‘be’ in the moment learning the lessons I needed to learn, to move on. Stuck in the moment... a catch phrase for a reason. Those moment can last years if we are not careful. Even in the midst of heart ache, pain and anguish there is light and hope. There is a reason to move on. When we see the event for what it is, whatever it is, and learn to let it go by learning and accepting.. then we are free. Then we are free to move to the next stage or season.

Every event that has happened, has shaped me to be the woman I am today. In the thick of those ‘life changing’ events are where I realised more power and strength, as well as true joy.

Why would anyone want to change the past? The past is the past. It just is. Noone is changing it. Not ever. So let it go but make sure you learn what you need to learn from it, with an open heart.. See it for what it is- just the past. It can not hurt you. Not if you don’t let it. I use those things that were designed to hurt me the most, to my advantage. I use them to help other people. My past cant hurt me.

Only I can hurt me, and why would I do that?

BE the light so many people, are looking for and needing today.

Understand your season is only momentary- build on it if you like it; observe it and change what you need to change if you are fighting it. it too shall pass. It is only a season. Stop fighting.

DownSize You! De-Clutter Life!

by Vashte on May 9, 2014

Hellooooo! Back from a fabulous quick trip to Thailand and raring to go!

Thailand www.vashte.com

A change in environment is often a catalyst to a change in thinking, and potential change in situation. It can give us the ability to see the wood from the trees. When we are slap, bang! in the thick of things, it takes a unique person to detach from e-motions and from the simple fact we are ‘in’ the melting pot. Few can experience life objectively and rationally from that place.  – We are emotive beings-

Thailand was bliss! I love the Thai islands I have been to! Her beaches. Her people. Her food. Her weather. I can not fault Thailand. I only see the good there :) I went to celebrate a wedding there on this occasion; reuniting friends from all over the globe in celebration of dear friends committing life to each other. That is something very, very special!

Now I am back, and I too, am experiencing a more clear perspective for my life here in Australia. I have decided to harness this perspective and take action. When we choose not to take action in times like these, we soon fall back into old habits, old behaviours, old thought patterns. Life then returns to exactly as it was before. Same ol’, same ol’.

Change.

Make some changes. They can get a little, or a lot, harder to make as we get older if we choose not to make at least a few changes in life. Don’t be that miserable, old, lonely, cranky-pants who point-blank refused to change. Don’t get stuck in the past! Live today for today, making plans for the future.

  • The words you speak today form your reality tomorrow.
  • The action you take today will reflect in your today, tomorrow.
  • What future are you creating with your today, today??

So one major change I am committing to and sharing with you is the commitment to de-clutter my life. ‘De-cluttering my life’ is a very broad statement and concept so lets break this down into a bite sized chunk easy to chew.  I have previously posted on how to set and achieve goals, click HERE for a refresh. This is a goal. It is going to take effort and work but I am starting out small and so will grow in confidence and enjoyment in this potentially painful experience. -All dependent on how emotionally charged I am to items I choose to de-clutter.

We tend to hoard, gather and consume more and more in this consumer based life. We collect things; be they physical items (stuff); friendships or souls…; memories; behaviour/survival patterns. We refuse to let go of some. Even when they drag us down physically, emotionally, and or spiritually. Even when they make us sick. Or just plain get in the way of our moving forward. So we get stuck. Immobile. When we plateau, and the world keeps moving forward. Effectively we get left behind. And that’s not kosher Jack is it?!

Ruthless. That is how we (I) need to be when de-cluttering life. Ruthless. Unemotional. Get factual and objective. It is the only way to ditch the baggage.

I think the easiest place to start is in de-cluttering my home. Followed closely by de-cluttering my workspace. What in your environment can you afford to de-clutter? Or a better question to ask is: what in your environment can you NOT afford to de-clutter? What is your clutter costing you?!!

Space www.vashte.com

I have read that attachment to people, places and things is the basis of much of our suffering. Think about that and consider the truth in that. Really think about it. I see the truth in that perspective. My suffering and pain has often been in relation to my attachment of things/places or people I did not want to let go of. Are you the same? A healthy balance is important. Being completely detached is equally unhealthy. When we come to terms with seasons in life, de-cluttering becomes a lot easier.  I understand that I have lived many seasons in life so far, and I have many more to come. If I hold on to past seasons, I am in effect, living in the past. I then prevent myself from living in today. Some of my past is found in ‘stuff’ I have kept – on display or in storage (is that baggage?!) Some of my past in found in friendships and equally enemies. Some of my past is located in places and events.

‘Stuff’ is not a major factor in my life, having traveled for most of it and not considering myself grounded or rooted in one place, I probably have fewer ties to hoarding for memory. Apartment living also aids in this department. There is nowhere to hoard!! I do, however, have a tendency to keep books and documents ‘in case I can use them in the future’. Yes, books, magazines, cutouts and the like. I have a plethora of photos as well- they are emotional I suppose, but more a footprint of my life so far. (Is that an excuse?!)

Culling some of these items will be hard, but greatly beneficial, as they weigh heavy- in physical weight as well as the ever questioning ‘ what if I can use them?”- effectively cluttering my mindspace ?!! Here I have to get tough with myself and reason: If I haven’t used them already, then chances are I won’t in the near future. If I do, then I can always find them again. It really is not the end of the world. None of them are the Holy Grail!

By de-cluttering space, we keep what is useful and loved. We learn how to let go in the physical. There is power in letting go. Even when that letting go is represented by the smallest item in the house. Personal possessions. Sometimes personal possessions mean more to us than human interaction. Don’t let your personal possessions define you.

YOU define you. Personal possessions only fool fools, and impress small minds. What are you? Who do you choose to associate with?

If I can make basic decisions on what to keep and what to either give, throw away or sell; then those decisions spill into all aspects of my life. These decisions can be the seed planted allowing me to let go of more of my past so that I an un-clutter my entire home- mind, spirit and body.

  • New business ideas can flow, once old business concepts are closed.
  • New friendships are formed, once old friendships that have grown stale or changed paths are finished.
  • New attitudes can be developed, once old attitudes that not longer serve to benefit are changed.
  • New belief systems can be set up, once old belief systems that are not working are stopped.

Out with the old- in with the new!

Making space www.vashte.com

A trip overseas, or just away for a night or two can be that catalyst for clear thinking to re-emerge. Act on it when you see the wood from the trees. This can take courage. You can do it. Start with baby steps. These grow into infant steps, to teen steps and then to adult steps. Before you know it, you are running down the path of your dreams. And it could all have been sparked by you committing to a simple act, such as de-cluttering your space.

-That book you have been meaning to read for years- read it or de-clutter it. Out it goes.

-That outfit you have never worn, the one with the tags still attached- that one you bought 2 years ago – give it away, or sell it.

-That ornament reminding you of times past- the good ol’days – throw it away. How can you have good times today when you constantly pine for the ol’ days?

Our past has helped shape us to who we are today. We are very special and unique people. Each one of us. Our past does not define us though. Do not let the past hold you down to the person you were yesterday, or years ago. Do not let people hold you back in their desire to keep yesterday alive. That image may no longer suit or fit the person you are today, or plan to become. Break free of the chains. Ask yourself this: who is the person who stands in front of the mirror today? Who are you creating yourself to be for tomorrow and tomorrow’s tomorrow? Bring your dreams to life.

Enjoy your today and let go of the past. Learn from it, yes. Be thankful that it happened, no matter what it entails; and let it all go. Get on with Living Life OutLoud for today, so that you can make your dreams, your reality.

Declutter – Start at home!

Here is how to start:

  1. Go to the seconds shop.
  2. Buy a plastic container- usually about $20.00 Aus.
  3. Label it “Declutter Box”
  4. Add one item every day for one month (add more if you like but make sure at least one item goes in every day to make a habit).
  5. At the end of one month donate it to the Salvation Army; throw it out or sell it on ebay/garage sale..whatever you do, get it out of the house!!

This is a step by step process to lighten the burden in life. Too often we are held down by insignificant ‘stuff and things’. This simple, easy, but achievable game-plan begins something much deeper in the Spirit and Soul. It brings empowerment.  You begin to learn how, or remember how to, let go of things that just are not relevant to life now or the future.

Your lifespace can be a reflection of your mind space. As you de-clutter your home space, work space, living space; imagine how de-cluttered your mind space could potentially become.

I am excited!! Are you??

If you too think this is a good idea- commit with me and join me on this 30 day de-clutter challenge! Please leave a comment. We can become accountable to each other. Let me know what and where you are choosing to start! My first item is actually two items: 2 photo albums of a wedding back in 2003. I haven’t spoken to the couple since, have tried to contact them to ask if they want the albums but there is no response. It is cluttering  my space so they are going in my de-clutter box as the inaugural first items!!  Big step for me- de-cluttering photos- as I tend to be emotionally tied to these. I figure it has got to get easier if I start with the hard things!

Why not make 2014 the most progressive year to date?

Join me on this 30 day challenge! Who knows..maybe it will continue past 30 days! Imagine the space  we can create by removing old, unused items. Ready for new, fresh items to take their space.

Add your comment below if you are joining in with me! Do it!!

xx Vashte xx
