Coconut, Almond and Craisin Melt

by Vashte on June 29, 2013

-Raw, Vegan,  Gluten Free, Paleo, Sugar Free, Sweet Treat, 100% Natural, Healthy!-

Love your sweets but think you ”can’t” have them? Think again! Oh yes, the day of ”having your cake and eating it too”, may have arrived! Absolutely, you can’t eat the sweets from the shops and get away with it.. and why would you want them after you come to understand there really IS ‘food‘ and then there is fooood. Real food, food that nourishes the body and therefore the mind. As the mind is calm the Spirit and Soul are at peace.

Coconut, Almond and Craisin Melt

Like the look of this delicacy but think it would fall in the ‘bad” food list? Think again!!

  • Sick of guilt and shame from eating all the ‘wrong’ foods?
  • Don’t know what the right foods are?
  • Don’t know where to start?
  • Think you are addicted to chocolate, cakes, lollies…anything sweet? hmm you probably are as processed sugar has that effect on the human body. The enlightening thing is- you can ditch that ”addiction” and move on to better and brighter ways of living and loving your food.
  • Want to ditch the cravings?
  • Want to be at peace without the constant dreaming and fantasising about food?- You are not alone. Most of us have been there, are there, or are working through this.
  • We are led to believe we live in a ”can’t have” world unless we punish ourselves and force ourselves into a higher state of being! We force ourselves to fit into some mould created by other people (who exactly and why?) We conform to requirements or a set of standards-again, set by someone or something- I ask you why?  It is great to have a goal for your physical appearance- how you get there is a significant journey, and what happens after you hit your goal is even more crucial.

Many people enter into extreme dieting and training techniques;  some make their goal, many fall in the process, and then the great majority who hit their goal– have no aftercare or longterm plan on how to maintain or balance. Enter: severe train wreck- physically, mentally, spiritually.

One of many keys to success in the journey and after the journey is correct nutritional balancing, coupled with a strong sense of peace in who you are. What you put in is what you get out, much like a car. Put poor quality fuel or oil in, expect that car to corrode and perform poorly over time. Rotting from the inside out. Why would the human body and mind be any different?

Calories in vs calories out? Really? When a calorie is not a calorie, is not a calorie… how can that work? What that calorie is, is vitally important as to how your body uses that calorie- if at all -judging by the quality of ”so-called foods” so readily available in the modern day diet. Since when has man EVER been able to replicate, let alone enhance, any food product made by God? Never. Don’t ignore the ‘side effects’ – they mean something. Something very significant. Remember the car and the fuel….

This high fat, high protein snack is the bomb!

My melt.

Think fat is bad for you? Once again, think again!!! Good Fat can be used by the body to burn fat. Good Fat can be used by the body to aid in cellular communication! But where did this war on fat come from? Isn’t it better to eat low fat products? There is a school of thought out today stating low fat products cause more fat to be produced in the body– and I subscribe to this understanding. If low fat worked- we would all be skinny little minnies by now, lean, mean, muscular machines and able to eat copious amounts of this miracle food. But we are not. Instead, despite the increase in gyms, readily available sources of knowledge on the internet about weight loss, as well as more and more ”experts” in the field of weight loss’ and nutrition- we continue to get fatter and fatter, sicker and sicker. Something is wrong. Clearly.

What you have been doing; What you have been taught- could it be wrong? You wouldn’t be here, reading this post – wishing you could eat a piece of my coconut, almond and craisin slice without gaining weight. Wishing that you wouldn’t put on weight just by looking at it. Wishing you could just have a piece and put the rest back without bingeing. What you have been doing has not worked. Perhaps it is time to open your minds to a different way of thinking. Try it on for size. If you keep doing what you have been doing, expecting a different result– well, that has been described as the first state of ”madness”. I am not sure it is madness, but it could, and is likely, to lead to madness…you may as well be banging your head against a brick wall hoping to knock a brick out before you knock yourself out. Frustration is awful.

Try something new!!!! Go on, I dare you!!!

Diets don’t work. They never have, they never will. You will always rebound. How severe- you can never tell. Damage control – who is out there for the damage control? The aftercare?- Very few people.

Stop buying chocolate, sweets, vices from the shops. Start making your own, or buying from a good organic wholefood source. High in calories, yes! But the right calories. Old school thinking of fat being ‘bad’ for you is dead. And if not dead, dead thinking. This school of thought produces the exact the opposite result that you want in your body and therefore in your mind. Result: You are at odds with yourself and will continuously fight yourself for your own sanity. You are at war with your own body. That will never eventuate in a pretty state, or sight.

Crave food? Are you kidding? You don’t have to. Even when you have a goal in mind. Really. Crave food? You are at the mercy of food –an inanimate object- how ludicrous is that? And yet we allow ourselves to be subjected to this school of thought every day thinking it is normal. This is not normal at all, and it is totally unnecessary.

Restrictive thinking results in bingeing. No matter what you are restricting yourself from be it: food, drink, sleep, music, party time.. the list goes on. Change your mindset to abundance. It is natural for the human brain to want what it ”is not allowed to have”!! Think about that- when you restrict yourself from something, do you now become obsessed with that which you have restricted yourself from?! Eventually, at some point you fall off the rails and throw yourself deeper into that which you have restrained yourself from. This is limited thinking- poverty mentality. However, when you give yourself free reign over everything in life, life becomes that much more peaceful. Living an abundant life, knowing everything is available to you for whenever you need it. You no longer ”crave” that which you can’t have- as you can ”have” everything. You are free to ask yourself- do I REALLY want this?

Thus it is with your body. Feed it the right nutrients, and it will tell you when to eat, how much and how often. Feed it wholefoods, unchanged by man, and it can use those nutrients efficiently and effectively. This will feed your body, therefore feed your mind and calm your Spirit. You will balance and you will achieve your goals in the physical without the insatiable cravings, desires and loss of control when you feel you are ”out of control”. It is time to get off the treadmill and try something new.

Coconut, Almond and Craisin Melt

What You Need:

  • 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 Cup Almond Meal (crushed up almonds)
  • 4 Tablespoons Coconut FLAKES – different to desiccated coconut.
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped up lmonds
  • 1/4 Cup Craisins or any dried fruit you like- or none at all!!!
  • 1/4 Cup Raw Cacaco Nibs
  • Dark chocolate for grating over top.

Not sweet enough? It should be but if not add some Rice Malt Syrup (available from Coles as your sweetener. But first taste to make sure you need it.

How To Make It Work:

  • So easy. Melt the coconut oil, then add everything in together and mix! Voila!! Done!
  • Line a baking tray with baking paper and slosh it all onto the tray. This recipe, as with all my recipes, can be made with more or less of any ingredient. Play with them! If you think it should be more liquidy, add more melted coconut oil. Want it more chunky add more other ingredients.
  • Flatten the mixture out and pop it in the freezer for long enough for it to set. I keep mine in the freezer as you can eat I straight from there. Break it into pieces- its not meant to be a perfectly formed snack. Enjoy.
  • You wont be able to eat huge quantities of this. It is rich. High in great nutrients, great fats, great proteins. Perfect for after a heavy weights session, or for endurance training and exercise. Kids love it too.

Start Your Day The Alkalising Way!!!!

by Vashte on June 26, 2013

-Breakfast- breakfast- breakfast- Alkalising Breakfast

It is said the most important meal of the day is breakfast. And yet, so many people miss it, don’t want it, cant be bothered for it, think juicing is the way to go, fruit only… so many different points of view!! And such is life. What is important is working breakfast  into your lifestyle with sense and sensibility. Forget the fads, forget the whimsical notions that just don’t last.

Oh and I know my gym junkie, protein orientated friends are advocates for the full egg breakfast, as do my paleo fans and what have you. And that is great too.

The thing is, one style does not fit all, just as one size does not fit all- my shopping friends will all vouch for that!!

What suits you? What works for you? It is up to you to work that out through trial and error. You are your own guinea pig. That is just the way the cookie crumbles. What works for me does not necessarily work for you. Some days you may be ravenously hungry and go all out with the full breakfast sunny side up, spinach, gluten free toast, salmon you-name-it-she’s-there-baby! Other days, you are just not that hungry so a piece of fruit will suffice. And so it is- listen to your body. Be sensible in knowing what your day entails. If you are off to the gym, work in an active job, run around after your children all day long.. you would be wise to opt to fill the tank with healthy whole foods and a substantial breakfast, ensuring you are well planned for the day ahead with lunch and snacks packed ready to go- or expect a blowout along the line.

What works for me is that picture up there. That substantiates a good part of my breakfast. Why Vashte? So glad you asked!!

Parts of my body can be slow moving. Unfortunately. BUT I am not alone in this. Due to years of crazy hectic dieting, fads, schemes, intense exercise whilst restricting nutritional intake, my body, along with many other bodys today, have experienced some form of digestive malfunction, slowdown or complete blowout. (That sux bigtime). Some people I know happily tell me of their frequent trips to the bathroom after every main meal they have. Show offs. As I revere that action and sooo wish I had that skill I grimace and tell them I am really ”not that interested in what their body functions are doing thank you very much”. I am however, green with envy at their marvellously action-packed internals but, instead of wishing mine were that dynamic and active, or opting to take the latest and greatest pharmaceutical drug marketed on TV  to aid digestion (lies); I have found a natural solution that I just wont leave home without!!!  Or I blow up like a balloon and life becomes… uncomfortable.

So, for those of you out there who like me, aim to keep that body cleansed, alkalised and digesting food at a rate faster than you may have experienced previously … listen up kiddos!!! This formula works for me, try it on for size, it may work for you too…

Prepare the night before, and lay your clothes out ready for a brisk walk or jog at the crack of dawn. Cover up like an eskimo with gloves, hats, whatever it takes to get that body out in the fresh, crisp air at sparrow’s fart o’clock. Along with all the other crazy locos out at this time, you will reenergise and set your day up for success knowing you have overcome that inherent desire to lie in bed for those extra few minutes… doing what exactly? Nothing but procrastinating. Go to be earlier to get up earlier if you are tired in the morning. Sleep is important, and so is the time you sleep and the quality of your sleep.

During your crazy walk or run, which you fall in love with after a short time… don’t listen to music. Practise time for you. Set your day up. Speak out loud words of gratitude and thanks for the awesomeness of the fact you are out at this time! I give thanks to God, the father. You appreciate any which way you like. Set an attitude of gratitude up for the day ahead. Visualise how your day will pan out. You are the creator of your own world. The master of the game. You call the shots. Start now. Speak it. The power of the spoken word is …very powerful. Recite Scripture and make it personal to you. Empower yourself with the Word Of God. Nothing is Impossible for those that believe in the Word Of God. Early Morning Session

After this activity lasting about 30-60minutes it is home time. Shower, and down a glass or three of warm filtered water with fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. Drink as much as 1.5L of water before breakfast. GASP. I hear you. For me this is nothing- I have been drinking copious amounts of water most of my life. I exercise a lot and have uped my water intake slowly over the years. So for you, just increase glass by glass day by day or week by week. Whatever you feel comfortable doing. Just know that water is used by the body to flush fats. Fats store toxins. Toxins slow the passing of fats. ewwww. So the more clean water you drink the easier it is for the body to flush unwanted and unneeded fats and toxins. What was that? You mean a detox without ‘doing’ a detox??? Noooo !! Yes really.!! That simple.

Why the lemon or apple cider vinegar? These are both said to aid digestion and assist with metabolising your soon to be consumed breakfast. Happy days.

My breakfast consists of three steps:

  1.  Lemon juice and water. (Or apple cider vinegar)
  2.  15-30 minutes later- 2 teaspoons of Slippery Elm Bark Powder mixed with a sprinkling of cinnamon and a mug of warm water. This is not a drink, it turns into a very unattractive substance to look at, however, I find it quite pleasant to eat. This baby lines my intestinal tract and helps food slip through easily. Enough said? It is said to aid digestion. I can vouch for that one in this body :) I will not travel without it. Available from the supermarket now.
  3.  Step two fills me up so by step three I am usually almost full. My main breakfast on a usual day consists of:
  • one glass filtered water
  • 2-4 teaspoons of organic powdered greens- I like wheat grass and barley grass. You may have your own favourites for your own reasons- use those.
  • 1 teaspoon probiotics- powdered form (very important- most people are lacking in healthy probiotics in the gut due to stress, antibiotics, medications. The list goes on. Probiotics are the good guys in our gut that help to break down the food we eat. We need them. Get some probiotics!!)
  • 1 teaspoon Vitamin C with Hesperidin Complex – powdered form (this for me is the best Vit C – it has no sugar added) made by Millenium Pharmaceuticals from healthfood stores.
  • 2 teaspoons of soaked organic linseeds. (keep a protein shaker filled with water in the fridge a quarter filled with ORGANIC linseeds. If they are non organic- they do not work. Non-organic are devoid of Omega 3.  In the water,  they open and when digested, the body can easily access the essential Omega 3’s contained within. Without soaking the body will miss most of the essential Omega 3’s. Same goes for Chia seeds. By soaking, we are deactivating the protective shells housing the goods. Make sense?)

Ok!! Ok!! This glass looks scary to the naked eye and to the unconverted. However, one easily becomes a convert with the results.. ie great flush of solid matter after the event and whilst we don’t like to talk about such shitty events… Some of us find it difficult to experience shitty events, so when it happens easily and effortlessly we have cause to celebrate. Stuff the laxatives and other man made drugs. Do you realise all they do is dry out your already dehydrated intestines and bowel, thus causing MORE damage and blockage, causing you to need stronger and stronger man made B.S solutions?! Solutions that ..hmmm 99.999% of the time lead to dependency on more and more man made solutions… so ask yourself- do they or have they ever offered a true solution to the problem or just taped up the presenting damage or pain.. only to erupt in more damage and pain in the same area or worse still.. a completely different area of your body?

Get to the root cause and fix the bud. Get your digestion working efficiently and efficiently. It is said that 80% of all illness starts in the digestive system. How unfortunate that 80% of people in Australia have digestive issues… how about being part of the 20% or even better, being part of bringing that shocking statistic down? And if that stat is not 100% correct, get over it, the fact of the matter is: too many people are experiencing digestive disorders today. The great majority of today’s illnesses in the Western World can be traced back to the digestive system so how about giving your digestive system a break and sticking some ”whole foods” into that mouth of yours, sticking some alkalising cleansing foods in –assisting as opposed to hindering your body?

Eat foods that will help you live a vibrant, fun filled, energetic life! Remember how it is to be light on your feet! Feel good in your body. This body you live in is the only body you get. Treat it like the temple that it is. It is not a playground for abuse. Give yourself some respect and make the changes necessary. It starts with one step.. how about starting with breakfast?- Set your day up to create a world of life, health and vitality!!! TODAY!!!!

BE the change you want to see in your world!!!

Oh- and enjoy your full breakfast, juices etc etc… just get some natural cleansers in first and then decide if you really feel like that full breakfast every day… or maybe just some days…. give it a go and let me know what happens!!

Warning: you will be heading to the bathroom after eating a breakfast like this. Soo…. is that a problem? Or would you prefer that your food sits around in your colon festering, growing putrid, causing you wind, indigestion, acid reflux, leaky gut, and/or a plethora of other very serious, some life threatening illnesses? Me? I prefer frequent visits to the bathroom- as I know what it is like not being capable of passing solids. AND how sick the body gets. It is a long way back to recovery after that. THAT sux.

Decadent, Raw, Coconut and Chocolate Mousse

by Vashte on June 17, 2013

-Raw, Vegan, Decadent, Organic, Dessert, Processed Sugar Free, Gluten Free-

Enter Chocolate Decadence. Without added refined sugar. Looks fab? It is. :) This dessert is raw, sweet and created in a nano-second (if you have kept your coconut milk in the fridge overnight). Made primarily from coconut, sweetened with dates, and flavoured…any way you desire, this is yet another wonderful dessert limited only by your own imagination!!!

Raw cacao mousse

I recommend making small portion sizes. The flavours are robust. Deep, sensual, chocolaty pleasures of dark chocolate will envelop you if you choose to use raw organic cacao and cacao nibs. Only the best in my kitchen and for my friends and family!! This mousse has such a light texture whilst delivering power packed punches of your chosen flavours. Whilst no ‘sugar’ is added, don’t get caught in the trap thinking there is no sugar in this mousse. Dates are used for sweetness. Dates have one of the highest sugar content available naturally. This is fine so long a you are aware of it. Just keep the portion sizes small- not that you could eat large portions of this in one sitting anyway AND keep in mind- this mousse far surpasses any chocolate option you buy from the shops so please keep ‘sugar ‘and the ”freakiness of sugar” concept in proportion. OK? :)

Savour each spoonful and enjoy slowly allowing the flavours envelope your senses. Appreciate each mouthful. Stop when you have had enough. Enjoy the control you have over what goes into your mouth, how often and how much. If you put a half eaten portion back in the fridge it will still be there when you go back another day to enjoy it! :)

What You Will  Need:

  • 400ml coconut milk- 1 can. Available from the supermarket. Choose organic and a high fat content of 70% or more.
  • 1 cup of dates. I use organic dates from the supermarket kept in the refrigerated section. Make sure you remove the pip!
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup cacao nibs
  • handful of coconut flakes
  • any other imaginative ingredients you might like to add to mousse. If you like vanilla- don’t add the cacao! Add some vanilla instead! Easy!!

How To Make It Work:

The day before pop your coconut milk in the fridge. Leave for 8 hours or so. We need the ”fat of the coconut milk” to solidify – this is the part we want to use. When you open the can, you should find a solid mass. Remove from the can, using a spoon and use the solid part. There should only be  small amount of liquid left at the bottom – use this in your next smoothie.

This recipe is using high fat content. Don’t freak out. The coconut contains one of the best kind of fats your body could ask for. Used smartly, it could even help you lose weight!! Not ALL fats are bad, in fact, THIS fat can be very, very good for our body. Don’t believe the ‘no fat, low fat’ diet myth. It clearly does not work 😉

Dates: you will need to pit the dates if you have chosen to use organic dates. They should be nice and soft. If you are using dates from a packet, they will be tougher. We need the dates to be nice and soft to blend easily. To soften dates, pop them in some warm/hot water and let them soften. Then drain the water out and cut them into halves or smaller sizes ready for blending.

To blend: We want a really smooth, light, creamy texture. To get this we need a good blender or mixer. I use the Vitamix. It is a powerful machine. You can use whatever machine you favour at home! Place the soft, pitted dates in your blender, along with the solid coconut milk. Blend until creamy and smooth to look like this: coconut milk and dates

Perfect. Now add your remaining ingredients. If you are choosing vanilla- add in your vanilla. Jazz it up by adding nuts, raisins, dried fruit- whatever your preference.

I made mine a high quality, hard core, dark chocolate version this time round, so now is when I added my cacao powder, nibs and coconut flakes. Blend, or if you want to have a chunkier texture and leave bits and pieces throughout your mousse, just mix with a wooden spoon. raw dark cacao mousse

Serve in small ramekins and top with coconut flakes (as I did in my case). Or leave as a dark chocolate mousse, baring all glory as is -if you prefer. Again, play with the recipe!

This is a very sweet mousse. I will back off the dates next time and will experiment by dropping the dates completely to try to find a lower natural sugar content mousse version of this. If I add avocado to the mix, and use rice bran syrup – with no dates- I think we could make an awesome vanilla or chocolate mousse, with negligible natural sugar content. So watch this space for variations on this baby. Never-the-less, my mousse is light years better than anything you buy from the shops. All natural, all good for you. And incredibly delish for all you chocoholics out there!!

Serve at room temperature and in ramekin sized portions. You can keep your mousse in the fridge for another day but the mousse will solidify and therefore lose the lightly fluffy texture altering the taste. Just sit it on the bench when you are ready for another hit of natural, raw, decadent, divine health! Let it reach room temperature, snuggle up with a blanket and pop on a great dvd. Enjoy a night in with a healthy version of chocolate!!!! Your body will love you for it …and so will your mind!!!

You do not have to go without in life. All you need are alternative choices in foods and someone to help show you the way. After that.. you start exploring all on your own and start finding your own way. All it takes  is a little help from your friends every know and then. I hope my page can help get you started in exploring a more healthy, fun way to explore how to Live Your Life Outloud...without Dieting…without Restraint…without the ‘bad days and good days’… just learning to love your life, knowing you are making informed choices based on great choices.  Once you learn how easy it is, you are off running!! Until someone shows you, it can be confusing and daunting-  like trying to pin the tail on the donkey! raw cococacao mousse

-Raw, Wholefood, Sugar Free, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Grain Free –

-Sweet Treat AND good for you!! Easy to make-

-Delicious!!- Coconut Chia Dessert

It’s winter. It is cold and getting colder. We seem to gravitate towards winter wholesome foods in cold seasons.  Many people slow riiight down, and some come to a complete stop. All because it is winter and it is cold. Bad combination! We are not bears, and we do not need to store fat for our hibernation period… fact is, it is very hard to hibernate away from the world for a long period of time. People start to wonder… But very easy to build up fatty deposits due to this combination of behaviour and then freak out when Summer sneaks up on us all of a sudden!! I mean, who can predict Summer coming??? sigh, we do it to ourselves each and every year… how about making this year- 2013- the year you started preparing for Summer IN THE WINTER. LIKE NOW!!!

I thought I would share this little gem with you for the Winter season! (and the Summer, Autumn and Spring). These little glasses of sweet delight come packed with chia seeds. Chia seeds are one of the many ‘superfoods’ (I really do not like that term if you must know, it is so over marketed) available in the supermarket, from health food shops and every where on the net these days. It is a good thing. These little seeds are incredible in and of themselves, and incredible for many human beings and their digestion! They are unobtrusive, don’t have a strong flavour and can be added to pretty much any liquidy substance, including bread and cake mixtures to add nutrients and aid digestion.  I used to pour a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds into my bottled water and drink throughout the day. Not only do they fill me up, they keep things moving along nicely which is an issue many people have due to poor nutrient levels in the readily available foods of today. If you are going to try this- adding chia to your water- start with 1 teaspoon per 1.5L water, and increase as your body dictates. You know your body, it is up to you to monitor how it processes foods. If this is a new concept to you, I encourage you to start to take note of how your body digests certain foods and drinks- take note of how you feel after eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. How you feel when you snack, (what are you thinking and doing at the time), what time you snack, what foods you snack on… After eating are you energetic, clear headed, focused, satiated or over full, do you get tired, bloating, gas, do you pass fluid and solids easily every day? These are all things you can take note of, monitor and be aware of changes BEFORE they turn into something bigger than necessary.

It is your body. One life, Live it Well!

As we seem to love reaching for the sweet treats during the colder months (or is it all months?!) I thought these Coconut, Cashew , Mango Chia Desserts could help satisfy your sweet tooth without adding ridiculously high amounts of refined sugars to your chosen diet. It works for me, maybe it will work for you too? chia dessert

To make 4 decent sized portions, or 8 taster sized portions you will need:

  • 1 cup chia seeds. white or black.
  • 750 ml coconut milk (can use coconut cream but watch portion size, and you can use coconut water for a runnier lighter dessert. I reduce the water content or increase chia seeds)
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango Options: add whichever fruit you like or just leave the fruit out. Play with this and figure out what you like the best!
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla. I use organic vanilla bean from the supermarket. It is available in powder form too from the health shops.
  • Rice bran Syrup to sweeten if necessary. Options: stevia, or xylitol. If you add honey, agave syrup, or any other sweetener you are adding sugar.
  • Chopped raw cashews (activated are best). Options: any other nut you personally prefer! No rules!! Mix them in or just sprinkle on top.
  • Options: add goji, craisins, coconut flakes, cacao powder and or nibs… it really is up to you and what you have in the cupboard!!!

To Make It Work:

Mix everything together! Watch as the chia expands and thickens into the mixture. If you feel the need, add water to ensure the dessert does not become gluggy, or more coconut water.  An option is to mix the milk, chia, vanilla, and sweetener together, allow the mixture to thicken, then layer the chia dessert into serving bowls as a base. Add  fruits/nut/custard… use your imagination, and then top with the remaining chia dessert. It looks pretty special, tastes amazing too!! Best served in a glass, or glass container if you are going for the pretty look! chia desserts

Let your desserts set in the fridge before serving. Great as a sweet snack to banish those sweet cravings mid afternoon; the kids love this and best of all this is an incredibly healthy snack. Low in sugars and high in good fats.  These will keep in the fridge for a couple of days or you can freeze them for longer periods. Save them for rainy days as opposed to store-bought chocolate.

Chia was an ancient food for the Mayan’s. It is said they would run for miles on chia and water alone and maintain complete  nourishment. Chia has been used for thousands of years by civilianisation’s living well over the average age of our ‘developed’ countries. I am no expert on any subject– the more I learn the more I learn there is so much to learn!!! I do think it pays to investigate for yourself and start to question why we as a developed nation are so horribly ill, obese and overweight. Why are our children being born with terminal illnesses? Why are so many young people falling to terminal illnesses? Why are no valid, black and white answers coming from the plethora of ”councils’ set up to ”çure’ these diseases especially when they have such black and white definitions, rules and regulations ON the diseases AND how to supposedly CURE them? CLEARLY THEY DON’T WORK. Why won’t they look for alternative answers and preventative treatment as opposed to just band-aiding a festering sore?! Science??! Why are diseases  increasing and our quality of life decreasing?

Start asking questions for yourselves before you need them. You too may find the real hope for any chance of an answer lies in the ways our ancestors lived, to a large degree.

  • How they ate.
  • What they thought.
  • How often they moved.

To start- there was no processed, packaged, microwaved foods back then. Not really even in our grandparents, or great grandparents days. Doesn’t that make you wonder, just a little? Not everything they ate was laced, nor, overflowing with refined sugar which is more relevant for 2013. They ate good fat and…they were lean. Leaner than the majority of the developed nations today. They moved more. Get up and go for a walk for crying out loud! Get some fresh air! That alone can change toxic thoughts and toxic energy into recharged and revitalised energy. It really is not rocket science. It can be easy if you look in the right places.

This blog could be a good basic place to start! On this blog, I am exploring my life in 2013 filled with health, happiness and wholefood living. I am real. I am grounded but I promise you I am reaching for the stars. If you too want to get a fresh approach, and start exploring the very real possibilities of a truer  health from within, without the mumbo jumbo, then feel from to pop your details up there in the box to keep updated on this blog. Make some recipes I post! :) Make some comments on the thoughts and suggestions I have! Tell me what you want to hear?! Ask questions!! Lets do this together. One step at a time, one foot in front of the other, one day at a time.

We CAN change- you CAN change.

If you imagine it, you can dream it and anything you imagine and dream.. is yours if you just take the steps to make it happen. That starts with ONE step. That is all- followed by another step. There is no race, there is no rush. Take it at your own pace. There are no rules, no regulations, just you exploring the very real prospect of a healthier life, through healthier living based on healthier choices in nutrition; in the thoughts you think and the things you find important in this day and age.

Don’t live “it is not until you lose something, or someone dear to you that you realise how important that really was to you”. Cherish your life, and the life of those you love. Live a healthy long and prosperous life- the only way to do that, as I see it, is to start to ask questions and do your own research. Not everything people in ”authority” say is truth, not everything those with doctorates’ degrees know or say is fact, and an answer is only AN answer- it is not THE answer until you make that decision yourself. Get MORE answers and make your own decisions.

I hope you enjoyed this blog- please try this recipe, adapt it- comment on it and share my blog with people you think might enjoy it, share it with people how may get something out of it, and have fun exploring life with me/us!!!
