gluten free

I posted these on my instagram page and they were a hit to look at- not to mention a hit for me to have in the fridge! Simple, easy and really good for you! Great to have on hand as a snack; or add a salad/steamed veges and voila! You have a fast healthy meal! Here is how to make Baked Eggs Layered with Broccoli wrapped in prosciutto….Baked Eggs This tasty little morsels can be whipped up in a flash. The whole family will love them and noone will know how healthy they are..unless you tell them!

What you need:

Eggs – I use organic free range eggs. I choose ORGANIC free range eggs as I prefer my chooks not to have three heads and actually be able to use their legs to support their bodies. WeBaked Egg Prep are eating what they produce and if the source is sick, that which it produces is likely to be sicker still. I eat a lot of eggs, so I want to keep them as good as they can get.  I stay away from ‘cage eggs’ and regular ‘free range’ eggs. Most ‘free range’ eggs available are from chooks who may only be freed for as little as 5 minutes per day and kept in factory farm conditions the rest. Be aware of the Madness of Marketing.

Coconut Oil – to grease the muffin tin. I prefer Coconut Oil to pretty much all other oils. It is a stable oil to cook with, and I love the flavour. Coconut Oil comes with a plethora  of great qualities for use inside and outside the body. It’s great stuff!

Muffin Tray – to cook your tasty morsels in!

Prosciutto – or any other lining you personally like. Use bacon if you like bacon. Use a vegetable if you prefer no meat- like a spinach leaf. Whatever you use it will act as the cup, or case.  Make sense?

Fresh vegetables finely chopped. I used brocolli and tomato in this batch. Use can use whatever you like. I found the tomato a bit ‘wet’ so won’t do tomato again. You could saute some onions, add garlic, pesto, cheese- whatever you like with your eggs!

How to Make It Work

Simply heat the oven to 150C. Grease your muffin tray with coconut oil so the casing does not stick- Alternatively use muffin paper cups. Now line each cup -sides and base with your chosen casing- in this instance I used prosciutto. Add a sprinkling of veges/pesto or whatever you might like with your eggs, then crack open an egg per muffin space. Season as you see fit -I use Himalayan Salt, pepper and cayenne pepper, and sprinkled goats cheese feta over some. Bake in the oven forBaked Eggs approx 15 minutes.

Voila- you have bundles of joy to eat straight away, refrigerate or freeze!

To remove them from the tray, I use a small spatula to get underneath. As they cook they come away from the edge so are pretty easy to remove. Alternatively you can use the ‘new and improved’ silicone trays. I have not cooked with these, and am not sold on their health benefits to date; but I have not researched into them.

These make great healthy options as finger foods to a party, kids food, a great protein based snack on the run, breakfast, lunch or dinner!! I love versatile fast healthy food!

Let me know how you go and what you do to stamp your style on these little gems!!!

Spinach and Coconut Water Smoothie

During the week I am not a big breakfast eater. I used to start with eggs and veges; egg whites and veges; smoothies with protein and fruits; gluten free cereal (has to be soggy for me to eat it so that takes a while for the rice/almond/cashew milk to soak in..hence too much time!); or an omelet. These days, as I am not pumping iron (never have really), I don’t find I need all that food first thing. To me, these meals mentioned are very substantial and, listening to my body, I find they slow my digestion down. Now days I enjoy these breakfasts as a brunch in the weekend- not all at once mind you! -If you lift weights in the mornings or are in an active job/lifestyle- you would likely need to eat differently to me.

Most days I walk or jog first thing on an empty stomach aside from a sip if water or two. One major caveat is- I have to fall out of bed, throw on my clothes and GO. Clothes prepared the night before or therein lies an issue. I cannot think about anything, nor engage in conversation with anyone, and most certainly and definitely no snuggles up for that last minute or two when you are the most comfortable in your warm bed! Or it is over red rover and there is no walk and certainly no jog. Bad. Very bad state of affairs. No thinking allowed- just do it. That is my motto (thank you nike)- but, at this time in the morning-  I can not even think of that! Just throw on daggy clothes + Cap and gloves, leave house, walk, then jog. And then wake up, during said walk.. and life is seen through rose coloured glasses even when it is raining.  Once it is over. 😉

Breakfast for me needs to be light. All I need and want is something to fill the gap, and not slow down the cleansing process my body is still working through. I can consider a more solid meal around 11am or after. Before that, I am still cleansing. Yes breakfast IS important. Do not get me wrong there- but I choose to keep mine light.

Today for example this was my choice- my alkalising spinach and coconut water smoothie topped with cinnamon.  It was delicious. It was light. It was nutritious. It was alkalising. It was detoxing. It filled the gap. It was more hydrating than the 1.5L of water I had already ingested after my walk/jog.  Why? It was made from coconut water. Some (not all) benefits of coconut water are:

  • It’s a natural isotonic beverage, with the same level of electrolyte balance as we have in our blood – it’s the fluid of life so to speak
  • Coconut water is more nutritious than whole milk – Less fat and no cholesterol
  • Coconut water is more healthy than Orange juice – Much lower calories
  • Coconut water is better than processed baby milk – it contains lauric acid, which is present in human mothers milk
  • Coconut water is naturally sterile – water permeates through the filtering husk
  • Coconut water is a universal donor – it’s identical to human blood plasma
  • Coconut water is a natural isotonic beverage – the same level we have in our blood
  • “Coconut water is the very stuff of nature, biologically pure, full of natural sugars, salts and vitamins to ward off fatigue… and is the next wave of energy drinks BUT natural” – Mortin Satin, Chief of the United nations Food and Agriculture Organisation
  • Coconut water contains more potassium (at about 294mg) than most sports and energy drinks (117mg)
  • Coconut water has less sodium (25mg) where sport drinks have around 41mg and energy drinks have about 200mg!
  • Coconut water has 5mg of Natural sugars where sports and energy drinks range from 10 – 25mg of Altered sugar. Coconut water is LOW in sugar. VERY good!!!
  • Coconut water is very high in chloride at 118mg, compared to sports drinks at about 39mg.

(taken directly from Coconut Essence Water ‘benefits’ page and based on a 100ml serve.

I love coconut products and coconut water is the bee’s knees to me. My favourite brand is from JT’s Coconut Essence based here in Queensland- they deliver online so go for it. If youJT's Coconut Essence Water can not get the real thing- the white, young coconut from the supermarket; then this is the next best ting. It saves you time and keeps you and those close to you, out of danger as you try to handle a meat cleaver type knife trying to open the real McCoy!! (Watch the fingers!) JT’s Coconut Essence is 100% pure- no additives, and the flavour is the closest to the real thing out of all the different brands I have tried. Yes, I have tried a few. Beware of cheap imitations filled with preservatives. Look at the ingredient list- if there is anything other than 100% coconut water in there- you are buying a cheap imposter. (It may not be cheap on your wallet but it will be cheap in nutritional value). Coconut water is coconut water- don’t let anyone mess with it.  You can find JT’s Coconut Essence at GoVita in Robina if you are on the Gold Coast. Or as I mentioned buy online- buy in bulk- you can use it in your cooking, baking, smoothies, or just when you need a refreshing drink.

My Refreshing Spinach and Coconut Water Smoothie Recipe:

2 leaves of spinach (as much as you like really), 1 can 330ml JT’s Coconut Essence Water, juice of one lemon (you could use half as it was slightly tart), 1 Tblspn activated ORGANIC linseeds, 2 teaspoons organic green barley powder, small portion of organic vanilla bean, and a sprinkle of cinnamon- ice. if you need to sweeten, use a small amount of stevia, but it should be sweet enough. Then blend away in your vitamix preferably, but any blender will do! YUM!

Gluten Free – Wheat Free – Bad Fat Free!!- 100% NATURAL!!!

Whole Food – easy and fast, fast and easy!! Team- this couldn’t be easier if we tried to make it easier!!! Easy, nutritious, delicious, and GREAT for you!!! ALL GOOD!! Free from any nasties, bad cooking techniques and NO extra or hidden calories. Food HAS to taste spectacular or why bother eating it?

So many people say they don’t have time in the kitchen to cook healthy food.. well this takes all of …very little time so no excuses! This can be a great lunch or dinner option for the whole entire family, or just one person. I cook for one- its very easy to get it right – just portion out your meats before you freeze them. All you need to do is take your choice for dinner out of the freezer of the morning you plan to consume it. Your meat will be ready to cook when you get home from work and take the same amount of time you would have to wait in line for some disgusting fatty fast food.

I use free range organic chicken – you can get it from most supermarkets in Australia now; find a great butcher; or order it online- even better!! I poach my chicken which means I cook it in water with a little Himalayan salt, and add any seasoning I feel like. I use a lot of paprika. I like it hot. If you have a little BBQ- BBQ your chicken!! As Summer approaches fast- this is a fun option!!

The salad is self explanatory I hope – add your favourite alkalising greens, sprinkle with some other colours (veges) if you feel like it and add your mango diced. Some people don’t like fruit in salads, so for those of you who fall into this category.. just don’t add it!! I obviously do! Your kids could make this meal- it is so fact, why not get them to help you!! Too many children these days have no idea how to make basic foods. If they get involved, they might start to actually enjoy their greens!! Maybe 😉

If you like salad dressing- don’t buy the supermarket dressings!! Make your own from Olive Oil and Fresh Lemon Juice!! Fresh, zingy and alkalising. Season with Himalayan salt, pepper, fresh herbs and totally enjoy this refreshing Summer meal!!

Gluten Free, Wheat free, Alkalising, Whole Food

Fast, easy and mouth-wateringly tasty!! Alkalising; whole real food that your body will love you for! This slice will not over fill you, but will give you a power packed meal/snack for any time of the day or night filled to the brim with loads of good protein, good fats (that wont make you fat) and alkalising green vegetables and nuts; combined with thermagenic properties of cayenne pepper to aid your metabolism even more. You just cant go wrong with this recipe! I LOVE it!!

In a bowl mix: 5 organic free range eggs, Himalayan salt, pepper, cayenne pepper to taste, cumin, 1 diced onion, 4 zucchini, lace it all with pest- as much as you like 😉  and add a handful of spinach. If you have a magic bullet you could really mulch the dry ingredients up if you like! I like them chunky though. Then all you do is get a casserole dish or a loaf tray and pour the ingredients into the dish you want to bake in. I sprayed mine with cold pressed virgin coconut oil to help stop it from sticking to the edge. You are going to slice it- so use a rectangle shaped dish- but that really doesn’t matter.

Top with diced raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and sprinkle with more cumin and cayenne pepper for a great zing! bake at approx 150C for 20-30 minutes or until its cooked all the way through.

Almonds are a fantastic alkaline nut, jam packed with essential fats, protein, antioxidants and fibre to help keep you fuller for longer. Nuts are great for keeping you fuller for longer! Almonds are also high in the amino acid glutathione – one of the most powerful antioxidants that also occurs naturally in our cells.  Glutathione is needed by the body to repair cells and maintain a healthy immune system.

Cold pressed virgin coconut oil is filled with lauric acid which helps nourish the immune system and aids metabolism! It tastes delicious and is one of the rare oils that is holds its properties when cooked ie – is a safe oil to cook with.

Enjoy it!!

Peanut Butter Cookies – Look Mum! No Sugar!!

by Vashte on October 3, 2012

Well, you learn something every day! Here is what I have learnt: you can actually bake peanut butter and make it a cookie!! Don’t believe me? Neither did I till I tried it- and the result is pictured! An interesting wee cookie, very…peanut buttery so if you like peanut butter- this will be a hit. With no sugar added, they are not too bad for you but a cookie is a cookie and I am always one to speak the truth so here goes: peanuts are hard for the body to digest, and ..a cookie is still high in calories so go easy on them! Personally I think this recipe could use some sweetener, try honey or stevia as natural peanut butter does not have sweetness.

They tend to go soft if left for a couple of days, so best to be eaten as soon as possible. Try them, let me know your thoughts! You cant really dunk them..they are made of peanut butter! I like to dunk my cookies…

I see a lot of recipes using nuts, nut butters etc being ‘sold’ as high protein – well – they are in a way but they are also very high calories and fats so just beware you don’t fall into the trap of clever marketing, encouraging you into thinking that these types of foods are so good for you that you can eat as many as you like. Not true. ‘Natural sugars’,’ no sugar added’, ‘gluten free’  recipes still contain calories, which if you do not use them, those calories will still be stored as fat.

There is no magic pill or trick to losing fat. It is simply everything in moderation. When you choose to set a goal in fat loss,  you must choose to cut certain items out for a period of time to hit that goal. When you hit that goal, you can then reintroduce foods you restricted slowly, monitoring how the body reabsorbs and uses this food. Nipping and tweaking as you go.

I’d like you to let me know what you think of the peanut butter cookies! Anyone out there game to try them yourselves?!

Whats in them:

1 Cup Natural Peanut Butter (I used chunky); 1/2 C 100% natural protein powder; 1 egg; more nuts if you want them.

How to make them work:

Mix together and put tablespoon fulls onto baking paper, then bake in the oven at 150C for approx 20  minutes or until baked.

Why Detox? Try Detoxing With Me!!!

by Vashte on July 29, 2012

Why I choose to DETOX…

We live in a fast paced, hectic world and it is not slowing down for anyone. Our lives revolve around technology; encouraging us to expect things completed immediately, leaving us wondering why we have why we have to wait…for anything. We want it all ..and we want it now.
How does this translate to the quality of life for the average human being? Poorly, in my opinion.
Look around and spot someone freely smiling or looking relaxed as you walk the streets! This is a rare person in any country. Our stress levels are through the roof and time is a commodity no one appears to have enough of.
So what happens to our quality and choice of food we eat as a result of this fast paced lifestyle we live? Again, it results in poor choices revolving once again around that microwave mentality where we want it now, packaged, processed, frozen and ready to go. Fast food society for a throw away society.
It is time to stop and smell the roses before we become the fertiliser FOR the roses before our time is due. Poor quality fertiliser too if if we have been eating that fast food, frozen food and prepackaged foods..we will more likely kill the roses themselves!
Come detox with me!
Detox that amazing body of yours- and yes it is amazing- You are still standing after all the garbage you throw at it, are you not? This body is nothing short of a living miracle for many people in 2012.
What are the benefits of detoxing the  body from the toxic load it carries each and every day? So many I can not name them all! Here are just a few good reasons I personally detox my body, they might benefit you too:

  • can improve the immune system and it’s function so that it can fight illnesses WITHOUT the need or use of drugs. The height of ridiculousness to me: the flu injection.
  • can help eliminate free radicals (the bad guys that makes you grow old before your time and help to keep you sick); as well as can help eliminate toxins.
  • can build the body’s ability to fight cancer cells and generate healthy cells- rock on.
  • can help to cleanse the digestive tract of mucous, congestion, fermentation and inflammation = keeps the body regular, reduces auto-immune disorders, flushes toxins and waste resulting in less bloating and fat/toxin storage.
  • can help purify the blood
  • can build the body’s ability to reduce ‘addictions’  – to sugar, salt, high Glymemic Carbohydrates (sugar), alcohol, junk foods, nicotine…

Simply put a detox can:

  • lessen the strain on the organs in the body. These organs are designed for many reasons, only one of which is to cleanse the  body. By overloading them with the job of cleansing, they can not function effectively and efficiently. By lessening the strain of cleansing, more energy is produced overall to live day to day life.
  • reduce the amount of toxins and pollution being put INTO the body by YOURS TRUELY therefore promoting healthy eating, healthy thoughts and healthy results as those cravings disappear. The body yearns to reach alkaline state more than it wants to be held in a constant acidic state. Illness CANNOT be housed in an alkaline body.

How does the body detox?
No hard and fast answer or rules to this question  from my readings. Each person is different. Some people do not even believe it is necessary. I do, and I often cleanse my body with fasting in many different forms. How strict and what particular fasting detox I choose  is dependent on what foods are in season, and what I am detoxing from.  Considering toxins are stored in the fat cells, I have decided I want to be as lean as I can, maintaining a normal healthy weight. I like energy and a fit athletic body with a killer metabolism personally – so that is one of my many goals.

A detox is generally considered to be a bodily process that transforms health threatening toxic substances from the environment around us, from our diets and from our bodies into something harmless. We do do this through excretion.  Physically, we pass toxins out as waste material in the bathroom, through our sweat, breath, or as a last resort through the skin as acne.

Crucial organs we absolutely must use for this are..all of them.. so let’s consider the main contenders:

  • liver
  • colon
  • kidneys
  • gall bladder
  • lungs
  • skin
  • lymph
  • blood

All very important in keeping the body alive correct? And all are key in detoxifying the body. When the body is overloaded with toxins, we can stop or slow their primary functions in keeping us sprightly happy little human beings.
Blood for example wants to be as clean as possible. It’s primary function is to get hemoglobin around the body. Hemoglobin carries our life force – oxygen. Why jam pack it full of toxins reducing this life force? I personally want as much oxygen as I can get! When one organ is overloaded, don’t you think this will cause a knock on effect for the rest of them?
Too many people, especially young people are suddenly experiencing organ failure; heart attacks, liver malfunction; developing terminal illnesses like cancer and way too many lives are being being affected or taken. TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE DYING BEFORE THEIR TIME IS UP FROM ILLNESS. I’m over it! I think a large cause is due to the fact we live in a toxic world, we think toxic thoughts, eat toxic foods and …just don’t much care about anyone but ourselves…
“I don’t want to live forever Vashte so it doesn’t matter”. How often do I hear that! OK I have said this phrase too but no longer use it. Time to get with the programme people!! No I DON’T want to live forever- that is a ridiculous concept in itself but I DO want to live this life to the full. I want to experience as many things as I am blessed to experience and MAKE this life amazing. No one else is going to do that for me so it is up to me to take action and MOVE! HOWEVER, if this body gives way before I achieve what I want in this life …THAT is not good enough. How would YOU feel if your body fails you before your time? But this is exactly what IS happening to those of us who treat our bodies like amusement parks.. being bedridden and having someone else clean me, feed me, take care of far worse than death. This is what happens with organ failure.
Why not help your body function at full capacity? Choosing to go without that deep fried, sugar laden, fat producing poor excuse for not giving up much at all. Why not choose life and energy? Help your organs to function effectively through choosing healthy whole foods in their natural state. You might amaze yourself at the increased energy levels experienced. You won’t ‘need’ that energy drink- it’s just sugar and caffeine when you look at the ingredients list anyway…you’re being sucked in by hyped up advertising.

Why not enjoy more energy every single day; obtain a slimmer healthier body; experience clear skin, clear thoughts and be more comfortable in the skin you are in? Just remember, this body is rented.. how you treat it is a direct reflection of your house.
I choose to be healthy from the inside out, you can too!
Fast healthy food is my choice! Use my recipes for ideas- they are delicious, nutritious and easy!
Detoxing will just come naturally when you choose healthy whole clean foods free from artificial sweeteners, flavours, fillers, preservatives, chemicals… Real food like apples, a real cabbage – food you actually chop and create yourself.. it’s incredible 😉

Our bodies are masterpieces. We are uniquely and wonderfully made, just you remember that! If these bodies are kept clean from toxic waste they can keep cancer away and other disgusting degenerative diseases, and ensure we are filled with life and life abundantly!!

It is written.

Vashte’s watermelon detox for alkalising.

by Vashte on July 15, 2012

Day two: Watermelon Detox.

Day two of my watermelon detox for alkalising my body and flushing waste stored in unmentionable places :) Got to love our bodies for hoarding stuff, but not really. Let’s get alkaline!
I often get asked why I choose to detox when I appear to be healthier than the average Joe Blogs – so I thought I might pop the answer up for any curious George’s out there – and for those who are interested in cleansing and alkalising their own bodies.

Right now there is an abundance of watermelons available so – we can eat them, drink them, enjoy them. Watermelons are slightly acidic due to their natural sugar levels but highly alkaline-forming in the body. This helps to produce an alkaline state during digestion = good thing.

Watermelons are approximately 92% water, but have a low calorie content of about 48 calories per cup of watermelon. This categorises them as a nutrient dense food (which is very good). They are high in Vit C and A, dietary fibre, magnesium, potassium and vitamins B-1 and B-6. That makes this fruit is not only delicious to eat, nice to look at and fun to eat..but packed with essential nutrients that we all need. Watermelon is high in the antioxidant ‘lycopene’ as well as many others. Lycopene helps to protect against skin, lung, breast, colon and prostate cancers, and can lower the risk of heart disease and macular degeneration (eyes) , according to “The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods.” The lycopene is what makes the watermelon its red in colour.

I am an advocate of preventative medicine as opposed to chasing one’s tail through last minute stressed filled scientific drugs, costing an arm and a leg and usually a life.. so I believe health through good nutrition, coupled with a sound mind and solid Spirit wards off most issues, and fights harder than any of the Big Pharmaceuticals will have you believe. But this is my opinion.

So to do my watermelon detox, I choose 3 days where I know I am not too active, I won’t be too tempted with choices, and can just chill out for a while to cleanse this body and empty my mind and soul a little- to fill her up with all good stuff afterwards. I love watermelon so I don’t find this hard – a glass for breakfast, along with my choice of green smoothie, probiotics, and Vit C sets me up for the day. I will blend up a couple of slices in my Vitamix (you DO have one don’t you – life is not the same without one of these babies!) with filtered water and ice, pop it in a drink bottle and take it with me for during the day. A glass at lunch and dinner, loads of water and green tea and I am on a roll! If I get hungry, I will have another green smoothie at night. I find it is easiest done over a quiet weekend, just keep out of the kitchen and busy your mind with other projects. Focus on something else.

This kind of detox is not a juice detox where you are only drinking the juice- the vitamix blends the entire ingredients- pips and all- so you get the dietary fibre along with all the other necessary enzymes.  If you don’t have the vitamix- no drama! Just eat the slices, or cut up the watermelon into pieces.

A word on alkalising, if you are stressed, upset or negative in any manner; there is little point in trying to achieve an alkaline state. It is of my opinion that the mind controls much of what goes on in the body – so if you are negatively charged with your adrenals working overtime, blood pumping and energy racing a million miles an hour- you are unlikely to have the ability to reach a state of relaxation and calm. When the body is in ‘fight’ mode, the digestive system is not functioning at full capacity. This is where alkaline state is achieved. So choose your times wisely for detoxing. This can be your chill pill Gill.

Who would benefit the most from this kind of detox fast?
Most people in the Western World today due to our poor dietary habits, fast paced lifestyle and roller coaster attitude we have towards our bodies. I know we all think we are invincible, and that is a great attitude to have to a point but come on guys and girls, take a look around…take a look in the mirror and tell me your body able to keep up with your mind and Spirit? If yes today, what about in 10 years, 20 years time? Don’t think that far ahead? Well why the heck not? If you don’t care about what happens to you, do you care about the people who love you..and may have to LOOK AFTER YOU WHEN YOUR BODY FAILS YOU????? How will the ego be then? When your wife, husband, mother, brother, CHILDREN have to wipe up after because you can’t use the bathroom alone????? And you have gone in your own bed??

Simple measures now mean you CAN be crazy FOR LONGER!!!! Have the freedom to go nuts and keep having as much fun as you like WHATEVER age you are!!

Too many people today have the following chronic medical problems- especially involving congestive (blocked) conditions. They could greatly benefit from this kind of detox fasting in conjunction with working alongside their chosen medical practitioner.
Why experience these things when they are not necessary and ultimately lead to worse health?

  • Constipation
  • Sinus
  • Bronchitis
  • Obesity
  • Colds
  • Flu
  • Indigestion
  • Back pain
  • Bloating and flatulence
  • Acne and inflammatory skin problems
  • Fatigue
  • the list goes on….

Growing up I used to get Irritable Bowel Syndrome – I soon figured out the food I ate greatly affected what was happening to me. The doctors mentioned that maybe I should avoid bread and oranges(!!) due to the sugar content in the orange… But they filled me antibiotics as often as I visited them, which lead to other horrible things. I started on the ‘alternative’ route through frustration and tears in knowing I cannot take those antibiotics as they invariably lead to other issues, which kept me at the doctors. A vicious circle the doctors cared little about, only their wallets it would seem.

Check your family history for illnesses- be aware of where the weaknesses in your family occur. It is not to say you WILL get what they had. IF you are aware of the weakness – you can treat it by preventative medicine = nutritional and supplementation and completely avoid what they did not know BEFORE any symptoms occur! It is our responsibility to look into the future, and we do this by assessing the past. Not living in it.
My family is gluten intolerant, there is no doubt about it. Some of my Uncles and Aunties have/have had bowel cancer. Noone knows the actual cause of this illness, but digestion is one key for this. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, untreated can lead to worse issues. Some family members are coeliac – which means they cannot eat gluten- found in most foods these days. They  do. They  drink coffee by the bucket load and not drink enough water. This puts the body in a dangerously dehydrated state, which can lead to diverticulitis. This is a seed caught in the bowel, which can puncture the bowel. It is dangerous and they have been been hospitalised on more than one occasion.

Why do people continue to do the things they know they shouldn’t as it ultimately leads to one outcome, and that is death. Why not just get a loaded gun and put it to your head, then pull the trigger? It will save time and a lot of pain.
You smoke? Fine. Expect to get emphysema and you may even share it with the people you live with as you love them so much. My question is: who is going to look after you as you die slowly, painfully and in disgusting manner? Oh that’s right, the people who love you the most.
You are obese? Have type 2 diabetes? Come on- sort it out. Don’t you want to run the race of life to WIN? Don’t give up! It can be turned around- it takes determination and dedication YES. Stop looking for the quick fix and take the first step. It didn’t happen overnight, so don’t expect to magically wake up one day free from fat. Stop eating that preservative laden, fat filled, sugar coated, carbohydrate cacked poor excuse for food and find some fresh whole foods to enjoy! YOU make the first move. Its up to YOU.

My friends, I choose to live this life as healthy as I can. I don’t want you or anyone I love having to wipe my bottom due to my own negligence and knowing I could have prevented that kind of non- life existence. Being dependent on others is not an option for me. I want to share my life with others and be a light! Not a drag. I want to live for as long as I can as healthy as I can, traveling the world, laughing, smiling without a worry in the world about my health. It does not mean I can’t have fun and go wild every now and then, but this body of mine is a temple, not an amusement park. Its a temple 80% of the time – it means there is more of a chance of lasting the distance.

This kind of a detox can help start to reset your body, purge it from toxins without absorbing new ones, and give our digestive system a well earned break! It has kept you going to this point right!! Our food plays an important role in our lives- make it a lifestyle choice as opposed to a diet or quick fix. Make the changes for life to give you the life you know you deserve.

No detox should be attempted without the supervision of a trained practitioner. This page is purely my own thoughts and explanations as to why I do the things I do.

Get Alkaline Now!

by Vashte on April 1, 2012

Depending on the mineral composition of the foods you eat and the way in which you digest them, depends on whether the ash residue left after metabolism is alkaline or acidic.

What is alkalinity?

Alkaline forming                                                           Neutral                                      Extremely Acid Forming

7.5pH  +                                                                                  4.0pH                                                                  0.5pH

Rule of thumb:

Eat and drink 80% alkaline forming foods and drinks; 20% acid forming foods and drinks.

What produces alkalinity in the human body?

Over and above all things, including food is your spiritual and mental state. If you choose to live a fast paced, sleep deprived and highly stressful lifestyle; then you choose an acidic, PRO -aging environment. Not allowing an absolute minimum of 15 minutes ‘me’ time EVERY DAY… (best and most practical first thing in the morning) then you could be asking for trouble. The way I see it, you have two choices and two choices only:

1.       Life

2.       Death

Choose life.

We only get one shot at it. Why not give it your best shot?

We are living longer so wouldn’t you want to be as healthy as possible in your old age as opposed to needing someone to wipe your bum? Confronting? Perhaps; why is The Truth so confronting to so many today? We live in a world where the future is not considered. We appear to possess and proudly proclaim a microwave society mentality which is pointing to self destruction. Why buy into it? We can live in this world but not be OF it.

Our world today=  ME ME ME NOW NOW NOW

… and as a result our children don’t even know what a tomato is or looks like, but can recognise a tomato sauce bottle readily. We are teaching our children how to be first class consumers. We have grown them into the fattest kids IN THE WORLD, and not given them the education they need to make correct choices nutritionally, educationally nor spiritually. In essence we are not only killing ourselves through gluttony in every sense of the word, but are also killing our OWN CHILDREN.  Isn’t that defined as genocide? Usually carried out by the enemy.. not our own parents, or our own selves…

So lets get alkaline! Here is how to start:

A number of factors contribute as to how the digestive system functions, which in turn influences action or reaction of the digestive system. These include but are not limited to:

  • Stress patterns
  • Ability to process life’s’ highs and lows
  • Emotional stability

An alkaline state in the human body can be produced through:

  • Good food combinations
  • Moderate quantities of food chewed well
  • Relaxation
  • Soothing light massage
  • Moderate non- confronting exercise
  • Deep breathing
  • Prayer and meditation
  • Unconditional love

For proper functioning of vital organs, the human body may function well in an alkaline environment. Alkaline reserves in the body can be produced by consuming alkaline forming foods.

WHY do we need to be ‘alkaline’?

“Alkalinity, referred to as the pH, is determined by the concentration of Hydrogen ions in a substance such as water, blood or food. On a scale from 1 – 14, a pH level of 7.0 is considered neutral, 7.0 downwards is increasingly acidic and upwards of 7.0 is increasingly alkaline. Our bodies are alkaline by design and acidic by function. God made the body so that both components are needed. The human body has adapted to two types of digestion, alkaline for starches and acid for proteins, but true health lives in an alkaline state. “

HOW do I get alkaline?

7.5 pH

  • Prayer -Through prayer and meditation. Having a peaceful, LOVING, kind environment is the single most important factor in reaching an alkaline state. Make sure you surround yourself and others with loads of love, joy and peace.
  • Peace
  • Meditation
  • Love
  • Kindness
  • Lemons -Warm water and half a lemon’s juice is a perfect way to start every day. Lemons yield a pH level of 7.5 = highly alkalising. By starting the day in this way you produce an alkaline environment for food to easily digest.  Lemons also play a major role in warding off colds, coughs, sore throats, heart burn and gastro upsets.
  • Watermelon – Super alkalising food. Can be used in a yearly cleansing fast. For approximately 5 days eat water melons only including the pips. Ensure you chew the pips well. Always choose NON GM foods.
  • Pea protein isolate

I was going to list super alkalising foods, but what is better is for you to google lists of alkaline/acidic foods. A simple rule of thumb I follow is:

  • The greener and leafier the food (often a vege) the more alkaline the food is.
  • Eat food in its natural, uncooked state as often as you can. Go for an absolute minimum of 51% uncooked whole foods – the way God made them.
  • NEVER eat microwaved food – it is no longer fit for consumption.

When positive acidity in the body is reached, the human body will break down. High acidity is reached by alkaline reserves being depleted through stressful environments and consuming excess acid forming foods.

Acidic residue in the human body can be produced through:

  • Stress
  • Negative Emotions
  • Poor food combinations
  • Excess acid-forming foods and drinks
  • Insufficient digestive capacity

  • Fruit juice with sugar
  • Processed maple syrup
  • Sulphured molasses
  • Commercial pickles
  • Refined cereals – weetbix, corn flakes etc.
  • Alcohol
  • Yoghurt sweetened.
  • Meat

  • Brown sugar – Most are white sugars with golden syrup added.
  • Chicken
  • Chocolate
  • Coffee
  • Custard with white sugar
  • Jellies
  • White pasta
  • Refined, iodised white table salt
  • Black tea
  • Wheat bread
  • White rice
  • Processed white vinegar.

  • Carbonated soft drinks and fizzy drinks – leaches minerals.
  • White flour – Bleached has no goodness
  • White pastries and cakes
  • Pork
  • White sugar – POISON, AVOID IT!
  • Cigarette, tobacco.
  • Drugs

Rule of thumb: 80% ALKALINE, 20% ACIDIC.
