How To Live Life Outloud a-Z “J”

by Vashte on March 11, 2013

joy , jump, jiggle, jubilation, juice

Joy – a life without joy is a life not lived. There is a significant difference between ‘happiness’, and joy. Joy rises from the heart and fills the essence of your being. Joy fills every cell Vashte minta about to jump 12of every atom that makes you a human being. Joy is uncontainable. Joy is magnificent and full. Joy is complete jubilation. There is much strength in joy!

Our lives are so fast paced these days. Too many of us forget to laugh; let alone smile. As it takes less muscles to smile than  frown, isn’t it interesting that we walk around with permanent frowns on our faces in the Western World?! In a world where we can pretty much have anything we set out minds to when we truly apply ourselves.. we frown. We lose our joy! We lose the essence of who we really are in the quest to obtain….more ‘stuff and things’ . – for what REAL purpose I ask?

Observe the pictures of children before they learn the ‘rules’ of the world.. the joyous smiles that capture their faces.. capture us as adults too. We can not help BUT fall in love with a smiling, giggling, innocent child. How many of us have watched the youtube videos of children giggling uncontrollably and found ourselves laughing along with it?

Isn’t it great when we do lose ourselves to laughter, resulting in stomach pain through laughing too much! When was the last time YOU experienced that? Me..? hmm a long time ago too. That is sad. Our joy should radiate from us and capture all those who see us! Our lives are a major blessing! We are so incredibly fortunate to live in such abundance! Look around and appreciate the blessings you have in your lives. Count them. The smallest blessings are usually the biggest.

My favourite scripture, the one that has got me through thick and thin in the last 2 years is this: “the joy of the Lord is my Strength” Neh 8:10. It certainly was, and is.  It wasn’t my personal joy- that had to be built up again from scratch! This continues to be built every single day,  but why focus on the negative like everyone else?! Focus on the positive and you will find you invite more and more joy into your lives- even when you don’t feel it yourselves. Focus on the joy. Focus on the laughter and when you cant laugh, let others laugh for you and embrace it.

MOVEVashte Minta jump 12

Feeling sorry for yourself? Get up and off your butt and MOVE. Start jumping, start jiggling. MOVE. You may feel foolish to begin with but you will feel more foolish if you sit and wallow in your own self pity. Jump.. something happens when you start moving:

a. you may begin to perspire as not so many people move as often as they ought to these days..

b. you release endorphins in the brain when you move MORE. Endorphins release joy in your brain… so you naturally feel better.. you may even smile! If you move more, you may even prevent your body from turning INTO jelly through lack of movement! Learn to jive!! lol that will get the blood pumping!! Jive yourself into jubilation and joy and have fun jiggling and jumping round your living room!

JUICE

Get yourself a good juicer and have an alkalising green juice every morning before breakfast- or for breakfast.

Choose vegetable juices as they are lower in sugars. Fruits are fantastic but generally we tend to eat too much sugar as a nation, so adding a freshly squeezed fruit juice to the mix is only going to add to in imbalance of sugars in the body.

A beautiful organic green based vegetable juice first thing in the morning will start your body off with some amazing nutrients, and keep you cleansing from the inside out until you add more solid foods. Your body will love you for it.

Juicing is great as the body does not need to break down the nutrients to access those nutrients. They go straight to the blood system- which is why we want to limit the actual fruit juices.

Do not drink pre-packaged fruit juices as a general rule as they are made up from concentrate and have even more sugar added to them. Don’t be fooled, there is little health benefit in a juice bought from the corner store..if any.

Freshly made organic juices, esp vegetable juices will be your best friend in health!

Choose organic. If you juice non organic fruits and veges, you are obtaining the juice but also obtaining all the pesticides, and toxins sprayed on that produce, in a highly concentrated manner. Toxic overload.

Always choose organic juices, or none at all.

Jump for Joy and the world will think you are mad.. but who cares!!!

How To Live Life Outloud “E”

by Vashte on January 21, 2013

Exercise, endorphins, Eloquence, elegance, Expression, early, earn, edify, educate, efficient, effective, effort, empathy, enlighten, enthusiastic, excellent,  expect, exceptional, emotional eating

E stands for exercise and endorphins!

Get moving! Exercise promotes health from the inside out! Walking is one of the best forms of fat burning exercise you can give your body to do! It is easy, it is simple, and almost everyone can do it! It does not cost a lot of money. Walk around the block, walk to the shops, walk up the stairs instead of taking the lift! Get some fresh air in those lungs! Exercise promotes the release of endorphins in your body. Endorphins are the things that promote happiness naturally, without the use of energy drinks!! Exercise gives you that ‘feel good’ feeling- those are endorphins.

E stands for eating.

Eat healthy. Eat fresh. Eat fresh whole foods. Eat to alkalise. Eat when you are hungry NOT when you are bored. Avoid emotional eating.

E stands for eloquence and elegance in men and women.

How you behave at home behind closed doors is exactly how you behave in public. If you use guttural language at home; you will use guttural language in public. Be eloquent in your language. It takes education to use eloquent language. Softly spoken yet educated and knowledgeable in the use of your chosen language- you will go places and earn respect in a wide variety of circles.

Be effective in your life. You reap that which you sow. Make the most of your every day. Live an exceptional life by creating your own reality. Be enthusiastic in all that you do. Aim for excellence- but make it your own standard of excellence. Be expressive in your life and do not be concerned with the opinions of most others. Every day live life to the fullest. MAKE the effort to create your life out loud!

Edify others every day- speak highly of other people and you will find they speak highly of you. When you make the effort, when you continue to educate yourself, when you live a life of elegance, life can become a lot easier.

HOW to STOP Emotional Eating

by Vashte on December 19, 2012

Follow these basic steps to help get you on track..

Almost everyone is overeating in the Western World. Australia and America vie for the fattest nations in the world. YOU don’t have to make up part of this horrendous statistic. If you are sick of feeling fat, lazy and almost dead; if you are ready to destroy that cop out habit of feeding-your-feelings then read on. These steps outline my basic 12 step program for how to stop emotional eating:

1. Plan ahead. The age old saying ‘fail to plan = plan to fail’ is never more apt than in this circumstance. It takes time to think about meals, as well as prepare them. Planning is not negotiable. Plan, plan and plan some more.

2. Make the Commitment. Set the day you will start this plan and tell friends/family you are embarking on this journey. The more people you tell the more likely you will stick to it as we can kid ourselves but we tend to be less likely to kid others as easily.

3. Get rid of temptations. If it is not on the menu plan, get it out of the house. End of story. If it is not in the house you cant eat it. NEVER shop when you are hungry.

4. Get enough sleep. It is easier to give in to emotional eating when you are tired. The body looks for an energy source when tired.  If you deprive the body from sleep the next thing it will resort to is food.  Consider taking a cat nap if possible and get quality sleep as often as you can.

5. Eat mini-meals often. By eating 5 or 6 small healthy meals a day, you help keep blood sugar and moods stable. Space your meals 2-3 hours apart. A ‘meal’ is not a plate laden with food, it can be a very small balanced snack to sustain you for the next couple of hours. You just need to stoke the fire of your metabolism, not overburden it.

6. Track everything. Keep a diary of the times you eat, the quantities and foods you are eating, how you are feeling and the activities you are involved with. 90% of people who diarise their journey are successful. Avoid ‘food amnesia’ – write down EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth.

7. Start eating alkaline foods. When you eat for health you will choose more high fibre,  raw, organic wholefoods, such as green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, and healthy high protein foods, like fish, lean poultry and high quality red meats in small portions. Ditch the pre-made, pre packaged, microwaveable, low fat options.

8. Be physically active. Move, move and move some more!!! Exercise reduces stress and is a great mood enhancer too. Find something you enjoy and you will stick with it for longer.

9. Create new comforts. Make a list of healthy activities you enjoy. Whenever you feel the need, treat yourself to something on your list. You are not a dog so do not reward yourself with food. Fall in love with something else to do and focus your attention there. Focus on what you CAN have.

10. Manage your stress. Healthy emotional DE-stress management is an important life skill. Positive ways to reduce stress include regular exercise, relaxation techniques and getting support from family and friends.

11. Use healthy distractions.
Take a walk, surf the internet, spend time with your pet animals, listen to music, enjoy a warm bath, read a good book, watch a movie, work in the garden or talk to a friend. Make yourself accountable to someone you respect; call them if you need to. Do whatever it takes to think of something different, positive and fun!

12. Get some support. It is easier to control emotional eating if you have a support network of friends or family. If no one you know is supportive, make some new health-oriented friends, go online and join health forums- they are a dime a dozen- you will soon realise you are not the only one in the world with these habits! It may help you to know this! Who knows – you may end up helping someone else and in the process forget about the issue YOU were having.. funny how life works that way!

These are just a few of my basic steps on how to destroy emotional eating and self sabotage. Just remember, Rome was not built in a day and neither were you. It has taken you years to get to where you are now, don’t expect it to magic away the minute you decide you are trying something new.

Have patience with yourself. Be firm but loving. If you do not love yourself and respect yourself to give YOU time for real results, you are setting yourself up for failure. Make the commitment? Yes! Have the focus,? Yes Be accountable? Yes! Know that you are made in the image and likeness of God and can do all things through Him who strengthens you? YES!!

Realise you are human and you will fall over. Its not about how many times or how hard you fall.. it IS about how many times you get back up. So get up NOW.

You are here reading this blog for a reason. You are here and you want to make a change in your life. You CAN. You HAVE. You have read this blog and now have the basics on how to move forward. There are many recipes on this blog to help you get alkaline and healthy, to keep you full and energetic and  don’t take a lot of time to make. Quit letting the world walk all over you. Take back your life and let the strength rise from within. The time is now. Do NOT wait another day.

Live a life LESS ORDINARY. Live a life LESS LETHARGIC. Live a live free from guilt and condemnation.

Protein, Muscle and Weight Loss

by Vashte on January 2, 2012

1.Your muscles are made up of protein. That is why you need protein in your diet to keep them strong.

2. Building muscle is not easy. It takes a lot of effort, dedication and TIME.

**GIRLS: lifting weights and eating protein WILL NOT MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A BODY BUILDER.  It takes HOURS AND HOURS of dedication and education to look even remotely like that.

3. Your abs are found in the kitchen. THATS RIGHT. Your results are dependant on 80% NUTRITION, 20% exercise. Dont get it mixed up.

4. Train hard with focus, be consistant, eat well –this may include a NATURAL protein supplement.

5. Have patience.

6. Stop looking for wonder products – there are NONE.

7.Starving the body of calories may work for the first few times you do it. This is a very temporary fix. What you are doing is teaching your body how to store FAT, and slowing down your metabolism. The more often you start a fad diet, the more efficient your body will become in knowing how to hold on to and store FAT.  You are doing yourself a HUGE dis-service entering ANY type of ‘diet’.

Examples of what I consider to be a CRAZY fad diet include but are not limited to:

  • Allowing only 500 Calories per day;
  • No carbs;
  • Protein shake ONLY breakfast and lunch diets;
  • NO excerise..and more

If you enter into a diet where they stop you from exercising, be VERY AWARE that you are HIGHLY LIKELY to be about to teach your body how to burn muscle and store your fat.

BIG FAT NO NO if you want to be slim, lean and toned.

When you come off this starvation period, your body will hold AS MUCH FOOD AS POSSIBLE as FAT, even the good food you put in, in preparation for the next famine. You WILL gain all that ‘weight’ back, plus MORE. The body is only trying to protect you and keep you alive by doing this.

  • By training consistently, eating 5-6 snacks each day with a balance of carbs and protein, you WILL lose fat and build muscle.
  • When losing fat, the scales may not move as fast as you think you want them to; however, watch those cms drop and the clothing become looser and looser. Isn’t that what you really want? To change shape, increase your metabolism, eat more and feel energetic?
  • It is vitally important that when you supplement your snacks with a protein shake, or any other supplement for that matter- you do so with a product that is 100% natural. Your body is a temple and understand that what you put in, your organs must process to get out.
  •  Eating CLEAN is vital to long term health. Always check the labels of any food you put in your mouth and ask yourself- can you read the ingredients or do you need to be a bio chemist to even begin to decipher them?

100% clean, 100% natural. Your body will love you for it and the fat will fall off.
