So everyone loves chocolate!! Well maybe not everyone, but many people seem to love the stuff.

Instead of buying the horrid artificial-packed chocolate products from the supermarkets and shops; lets make our own. Buyer beware:  many of the ‘healthy options’ from expensive ‘health food shops’ are packed with rubbish. So again…why not make your own?!

More HERE!!!It is so incredibly easy that you may surprise yourself and begin to take a liking to the kitchen for playing with foods. Hey, if chocolate mousse gets you interested in healthy foods… then I think that is brilliant. What a fun place to start!! 

I made this recipe as I had soaked a whole heap of almonds with the intention of making almond mylk. Want to make your own almond mylk? Click HERE and I show you how. So I did- make the nut mylk, but I had far too many soaked almonds. Almond Mylk homemade does not last as long in the fridge as store bought stuff. Why? Homemade is all natural. Store bought will keep for weeks as it is packed with, you guessed it,  poor quality oils, sugars, preservatives…

I don’t like waste, so I figured chocolate treats would be appreciated and well received in my house :) I was right of course! We are just like you and like our treats, especially at night. You know the time, after dinner, when you are chilling out and then start searching the pantry for that little something to eat?! lol Perfect treats for this time. Not too little, not too big. Just right. Enough to satisfy that craving and put it to bed, without blowing the diet.In this recipe I have added pea protein. I really do not like adding protein powders-be they dairy or vegan based. The more I am researching into this topic the more concerned I am becoming. I am formulating a post on my findings soon.

In this case I added pea protein to boost the protein content as an experiment; and for my old-school-thinking sake. It really is not necessary. But to encourage the many people who still use protein powders on a daily basis, this can be a great recipe to use and enjoy while you still use this ingredient. A sweet treat with the additional protein for muscle retention.

Raw Dark Chocolate Protein Mousse. Bite Size.

Bite sized chocolate mousses by Vashte

1 cup soaked almonds (soaked for 6-12 hours in filtered water)

1 cup fresh filtered water

1 avocado

1 teaspoon maca powder

Pinch of Himalayan Salt

2 Tablespoons good quality cacao powder

2 Tablespoons non flavoured 100% natural pea protein

4 Tablespoons coconut sugar

Blend in a vitamix or other similar high powdered blender until a creamy texture results.

Options: add 100% natural essential oil such as spearmint to make mint chocolate; or orange to make chocolate orange mousse. Try doterra as a safe organic essential oil brand. (google them)

Serve in bite sized portions with cacao nibs sprinkled on top, and dust with cacao powder.
